The release of Borderlands 3’s first story DLC, Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, is just one week away, and Gearbox Software is setting the stage with the launch of a brand new patch. This Borderlands 3 patch is set to go live today, December 12, before 3pm PST, and it will bring a host of fixes and improvements to Gearbox’s highly-popular looter shooter. Nintendo Labo may be not as easy to use as the recently-released Dreams. But one Nintendo fan has proven that there’s still life to be found in the two-year-old toolset by recreating a number of Breath of the Wild shrines. Twitter user Midreeca has taken to posting a number of Labo creations to his account, including full recreations of several shrines. While they lack the textures and a few of the features due to the limitations inherent in Labo, Midreeca has shown a surprising amount of ingenuity when it comes to recreating some of the more technically-challenging gameplay functions....

Atari is in a spot of bother, and has signalled it may need extra cash to continue. Reporting its half year results to 30th September 2022, the Paris-based company admitted any delays in the development of its four activities (gaming, hardware, licensing and blockchain), or underperformance in its initiatives may cause it to make less money than expected, and in turn spark “a liquidity shortfall and additional financing requirements”. There’s an “uncertain macro-environment” for video games and blockchain, the latter of which Atari has gone in heavily on, and so the company reckons actually implementing its new strategy “may require additional funding resources”....

Australian MP Andrew Wilkie has filed a bill with the Australian government which seeks to regulate classification for games with loot boxes. Wilkie first stated his intention to introduce the Classication Amendment (Loot Boxes) Bill last year (via Kotaku Australia). Back then, he wanted any games with loot boxes to be given a R18+ rating, and a new “advisory” classification to highlight their presence. The bill was filed yesterday by Wilkie, and the details of it can be viewed on the Australian government’s website....

Update: Bandai Namco has confirmed yesterday’s reported ransomware attack. The company has also said that it is investigating. In a statement given to VGC, the company said: “On July 3, 2022, Bandai Namco Holdings Inc. confirmed that it experienced an unauthorized access by third party to the internal systems of several Group companies in Asian regions (excluding Japan). “After we confirmed the unauthorized access, we have taken measures such as blocking access to the servers to prevent the damage from spreading....

Bandai Namco’s attempt to control all of the anime has resulted in a bid to purchase a majority of the common stock of Sotsu Co., Ltd, which would result in Bandai Namco owning the rights to the entire Gundam franchise. Sotsu is an advertising agency that already has 22.3% of its stock owned by Bandai Namco. One of the subsidiaries of Sotsu is Sunrise, which is one of Japan’s best-known animation studios....

While Wizards of the Coast remains focused on issuing performance improvements for Magic: The Gathering Arena, players continue to encounter issues with this new digital platform.
