However, the latest Borderlands 3 Gifts of Mayhem gift may be the most popular yet, as it gives fans new Christmas-themed skins for all four Vault Hunters in the game. The Festive Vestments Vault Hunter skins in Borderlands 3 gives all four playable characters a new red and green color scheme, along with candy cane stripes....

The makers of the Borderlands movie currently in early development want to include the franchise’s fan community in an unorthodox way: by setting up cosplayers as extras and then “killing” them. Movie director Eli Roth made a brief appearance at Gearbox’s PAX East panel to put out the word for Borderlands cosplayers everywhere. This Borderlands movie was only just revealed earlier in February and is set to be directed by Roth, produced by Avi and Ari Arad, and Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) is writing the screenplay....

Young Horses has announced a release date for free Bugsnax expansion The Isle of Bigsnax with some bonus news. Not only will the expansion land very soon on April 28, but the entire game will also arrive on Xbox and Nintendo Switch for the first time. First announced back in October of 2021, the expansion will include an entire new island set in a new jungle biome. The island is home to some grossly-oversized Bugsnax, and it’s up to you to find out why and capture them, while you’re at it....

For a limited time Xbox One owners who pre-order the digital version of Fallout 4 from the Xbox Store will receive a free download code for Fallout 3 on Xbox 360, Bethesda has confirmed. With the digital pre-order you’ll receive your Fallout 3 code within 7-10 days, which will work with Xbox 360 and Xbox One – once Xbox One backwards compatibility access is made available. The publisher had previously said that initial retail editions of the game on Xbox One would include a Fallout 3 download token....

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode has received a lengthy gameplay trailer, offering players their first proper glimpse at the shooter’s take on the battle royale genre. The beta for Blackout will kick off on September 10 for PlayStation 4 players, while PC and Xbox One gamers get in on the action four days later. It’ll support a whopping 80 players, more than rival Battlefield V’s Firestorm battle royale mode....

As reported last week in anticipation of the event, AMD just held a partner showcase for its new AM5 motherboard lineup. These next-generation high-end motherboards are geared toward enthusiasts and come with most features you’d expect. Since this was a partner showcase, AMD wasn’t alone in presenting these motherboards. ASRock, Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, and Biostar each had representatives to discuss the respective products. Following a substantial delay beyond its original May release window, Anthem’s first major post-launch update is finally available to all players. Seemingly out of the blue, players received a new quest called The Oncoming Storm a couple of weeks ago, signally the oncoming arrival of new content. Update 1.3 finally brought the storm which not only includes new story content to dig through, but plenty of new gear to chase, quality of life updates and more....

Fortnite and Apex Legends are some of the best battle royale games currently on the market, as least as far as popularity is concerned. In fact, when Apex Legends first launched, many considered it a “Fortnite killer,” and while that didn’t happen, the two games have been competitive enough. Fortnite has introduced a number of similar mechanics that Apex launched with, such as the respawn and pinging systems, with Apex making considerable gains on the former’s popularity when it launched....

Ubisoft has revealed Assassin’s Creed Mirage, releasing a cinematic trailer and announcing a release window of 2023. The game stars Basim as a newly inducted assassin, a Hidden One, stalking his prey in Baghdad. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is looking very much like a return to form, giving proper nods to the original. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is Basim’s story. The character first showed up in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as a seasoned assassin....

Ubisoft have spelled out what’s coming to Assassin’s Creed Origins in the month of December, which includes another patch. This will include a new difficulty mode, new quests, and another angry Egyptian god to fight. The difficulty level has been dubbed ‘Nightmare’ which, as the name suggests, makes Assassin’s Creed Origins quite a bit harder. Looks like it will make enemies more resilient to damage and make them hit harder. There will also be a new option to toggle enemy scaling....

The Assassin’s Creed Revelations teaser-fest continues with yet another couple videos for Ubisoft’s upcoming game. The most recent video seems to confirm that Ezio and Altair will both be making a return in Revelations, while the one released before it vaguely hints at what could be a location for the base of operations as well as some more connections to the hints provided thus far. Currently on the Assassin’s Creed Facebook page, the full teaser piecing together what we’ve seen all week has been revealed to show what appears to be Altair on the left and a much older Ezio on the right, as well as Game Informer’s logo in the background....

On Monday, Wizards of the Coast officially announced Pioneer, a brand new Magic: The Gathering constructed format that gives players access to a card pool beginning with 2012’s Return to Ravnica set. Since the announcement of MTG’s Pioneer format, players have been busy brewing and discussing the many ways that Pioneer differentiates itself from Modern, and for fans that are interested to see some of these differences consolidated, a new, fan-made infographic does exactly that....

Gearbox’s first-person hero shooter Battleborn will be at E3 “in a big way”, 2K’s parent company Take Two Interactive has said, with more info on the game planned to be revealed before the show. Described by Take Two as a “groundbreaking new intellectual property from Gearbox Software”, the game has been likened to a first-person MOBA, with characters able to gain new abilities and level up completely within each match....

Battlefield 2042’s delayed 3.3 update, which introduces a refreshed Scoreboard UI alongside a number of bug fixes, will launch tomorrow, 8th March - and the previously announced “exclusive bundle” being given to certain players as compensation for the beleaguered FPS’ delayed first season, arrives at the same time. Update 3.3 was initially due to launch in February, but DICE made the decision to delay its release to “improve the quality of our updates, and include additional changes”....

Nier Automata and Bayonetta developer PlatinumGames is working on its own original IP according to producer and head of development Atsushi Inaba. Speaking to Game Informer Inaba mentioned how the Metal Gear Rising dev has done multiple games with a variety of publishers throughout the years, but are becoming increasingly ‘interested in the idea of self-publishing and doing our own title.’ While Inaba spoke about a ‘formless, shapeless IP’ that the studio was working on last May, no specifics were given at the time – maybe because nothing was set in stone then....

Bejeweled Blitz is utterly brilliant – there’s no doubt about that. A simple ‘Match-3’ style game complete with slick visuals, entertaining power-ups and the best integration of a leaderboard system that I have ever seen, Blitz rises high above the competition in the “Which game has Phillipe spent most of his time playing?” league. In fact, having just done the math, I can admit to having spent just over 24 hours on that game; a game which should, theoretically, be over after 60 seconds....

THQ Nordic has announced a new launch date for upcoming third person action RPG Biomutant, declaring that the game will finally launch on May 25 of this year. The game has been promised for some time, with development team Experiment 101 even putting out a statement last year confirming they were still working on the game. Originally, it was expected to come out in 2018, then summer 2019, and then they just sort-of stopped giving a release date by Gamescom 2019’s preview....
