Back at EVO 2022, Bandai Namco unveiled a brief trailer that revealed the existence of an upcoming new game in the Tekken series. It seemed fairly obvious that this trailer served as a teaser for Tekken 8, but the absence of the game’s title meant that there remained at least a little room to speculate over what Bandai Namco had in store for us. But during today’s PlayStation State of Play, Bandai Namco removed any potential doubt and confirmed that the next Tekken project is indeed Tekken 8....

Anthem has debuted at number one on the UK All Format Chart, although its physical launch sales were underwhelming; it only shifted half the number of copies as Mass Effect Andromeda, BioWare’s last release. It’s important to mention that Chart-Track does not offer up any numbers for digital sales, so it’s unknown how many copies Anthem sold over PSN, Xbox Live, and EA Origin. Still, compared to some of the other big releases of the year so far, Anthem didn’t exactly set the world on fire....

There are few characters in Apex Legends that can have as debilitating an effect on the enemy team as a good Caustic. He may seem like a one-trick pony at first, but once you start coming up with some abnormal uses for his gas, he can have a real myriad of benefits. Caustic can simultaneously be used as a trapper, gain a surprising amount of intel, and be an up-in-your-face, aggressive style of character....

Apex Legends Season 3 is here, and it’s time to jump on hype train… carefully. There’s a lot to unpack with the new season. But one big new addition is the new map, and with that, a new cargo train. The train functions a bit like the supply ship back in Kings Canyon (press F to pay respects). It’s a moving vehicle loaded with loot, although the train differs in that it requires players to open crates and chase each other across train cars until they either get thirsted by other players or they jump off....

Respawn and EA has released the first trailer for Vantage, the new legend coming in Season 14 of Apex Legends. Vantage was formally revealed via the latest entry in the Stories from the Outlands series. She’ll join the playable roster of heroes in the battle royale shooter’s next major update next month. Entitled Hunted, the season will fit Vantage’s persona of a survivor, as evidenced by the video and the blurb....

Apple Arcade has added four new games to its roster — Pilgrims, Redout: Space Assault, Nightmare Farm, and The Bradwell Conspiracy. Launched late last month, Apple Arcade has already earned rave reviews. The subscription service offers dozens of excellent games for a low monthly fee and only looks to build on that success moving forward. This first batch of new games is certainly a step in the right direction. While we don’t know if these will be the only new games for October, we can say that you’ll probably find something to enjoy among them....

TT Games’ latest Lego title, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, promises to blow the developer’s previous projects out of the water in terms of scope. It will cover all nine major Star Wars films, including the exceptionally controversial prequel and sequel trilogies. The project represents a significant jump from Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, which covered six films. Evidently, the Lego Star Wars series has changed quite a bit since its humble beginnings in 2005, and fans will soon get the opportunity to experience this evolution for themselves....

What happened to you, BioWare? You used to be revered as THE RPG-making studio. Baldur’s Gate, Dragon Age, Mass Effect–these were groundbreaking and award-winning titles that made BioWare a household name. Gamers flocked to each new release and indie studios aspired to your greatness. And then it all fell apart. You got bought out by EA in 2009, and while you were able to hang on for over a decade with sequels like Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, nobody survives under EA’s capitalist rule for long....

For those of you that are itching to get into the beta for the latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, I’m afraid I’ve got bad news for you. Ubisoft has officially pushed the release date of the beta test back to October 4th, 2010. Depending on players’ feedback, this gives Ubisoft about 4 weeks to fine tune the multiplayer component to Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. Originally announced to launch on September 13th, the beta will boast a total of nine different assassins (featuring the executioner, courtesan, priest, and doctor), two game modes (Wanted and Alliance), and the maps Rome and Castel Gandolfo....

PlatinumGames’ Astral Chain topped the charts as this week’s physical UK best-seller, and it’s the Japanese developer’s first UK number one (via GamesIndustry.biz). In 2013, PlatinumGames’ Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance reached second place. Astral Chain is its second most successful new IP launch after Bayonetta in 2010, and it’s the sixth Switch game to seize the pole position this year. The competition was strong, though and there were 1,500 boxed sales between first and fourth place....

Once upon a time, the Atelier series used to not get sequels bringing back the same protagonist. Apparently, Atelier Ryza 2 paved the way, and fans will soon be able to enjoy the return of another fan favorite. Sophie Neuenmuller will be back with Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream. I got my hands on a pre-release copy of the English version of the game on PC, and it certainly feels like a treat for the fans....

After originally being announced back in December, it appears that next week BB-8 will finally be a playable character in Star Wars: Battlefront II. The fan favorite droid, first introduced in 2015’s The Force Awakens, will be one of the game’s fastest characters, and its speed will most definitely be one of its strongest attributes in battle. Taking direct inspiration from BB-8’s role in the Star Wars movies, developer DICE is making certain that the droid’s speed is a main feature of gameplay....

Shooters have been a fixture in arcades as long as there have been arcades. The first shooters weren’t even video games, but rather mechanical devices that actually fired pellets at physical objects within the cabinet. There are many great shooters that didn’t make this list, like Crossbow from Exidy, and Revolution X from Midway. The Terastallize mechanic in the new titles Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is a game changer. Veteran trainers may find some similarities with the Gigantamax mechanic but this one adds more depth to the battles. With this mechanic, you can change the Tera type of a Pokemon which affects the elemental type. Meaning, you can change a Fire-type to Grass-type, along with its strengths and weaknesses.
