Publishing behemoth Electronic Arts is reportedly under criminal investigation by the Belgian government, after the company failed to adhere to the country’s gambling laws by tweaking FIFA’s random loot boxes. EA isn’t the only company required to take action, of course. The likes of 2K Games, Blizzard, and Valve have taken steps to ensure they comply with Belgium’s gambling laws by removing loot boxes in their respective titles. The move comes following the Belgium Gaming Commission’s ruling back in April that loot boxes are an illegal form of gambling, citing examples such as FIFA 18, Overwatch, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive....

Bend Studio has offered a tiny news nugget on its next game, as the team unveiled a new logo for the Days Gone developer. The team revealed the new logo alongside a PlayStation Blog post to explain the makeover, with the new info. “We are currently working on a new IP that includes multiplayer,” the post reads. “And builds upon the open-world systems of Days Gone, but brings you a whole new world that we are extremely excited to craft for you....

Cross-play has been been on the watch list for Borderlands 3 since April. At the time, however, publisher 2K couldn’t make any promises. Tomorrow, developer Gearbox is hosting a “celebration of togetherness” at the Borderlands website. Some speculated that the company was finally ready to lift the veil on cross-play, as well as announce some other unknown features. Unfortunately, tomorrow’s big goofy jamboree won’t have anything to do with cross-play. However, Gearbox head and walking PR disaster Randy Pitchford confirmed today that the feature will be added some time after launch....

The Nintendo Labo VR Kits just became a whole lot more attractive to the average Nintendo Switch owner, as it has been announced that Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be receiving updates in order to make compatible with the Labo VR Goggles. Super Mario Odyssey is going to have limited VR support, as only a handful of missions will be added to the game that will be compatible with the VR Goggles....

Bungie canceled their live stream and instead opted to post an update to the community on the state of the game and what the future holds for Destiny 2. Three editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War have been leaked, and the “Cross-Gen Bundle” seems to suggest that players will have to shell out for a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X version of the game. However, the existence of a “Cross-Gen Bundle” implies that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War won’t be opting into Smart Delivery, or anything of the like. It seems like this edition will parcel the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions in one, and the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions in another....

Xbox poster boy Major Nelson has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter are now available on Xbox One’s rapidly-expanding backwards compatibility lineup. Liberation was originally released as a PlayStation Vita-exclusive and spin-off to Assassin’s Creed 3, although it was later ported to PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 with spruced up visuals. Today Koei Tecmo released a new trailer of the recently-announced Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key. The trailer focuses on one of the returning character who will appear in the game, Bos Brunnen. 2D Metroidvania adventure Axiom Verge is getting a sequel in next year’s Axiom Verge 2, developer Thomas Happ has announced. Appearing at the end of last night’s Nintendo Indie World broadcast, the sequel will feature new characters, new abilties, new enemies -all of which will be hackable – and take place on a whole new world that won’t require knowledge of the previous game to enjoy. The game will once again allow for non-linear exploration of the map, you’ll be able to launch a remote drone with its own abilities and behaviours, and will also include a speedrun mode with a ‘streamlined interface and additional features’ for speedrunners....
