The biggest theater chain in North America is once again delaying its reopening. Previously expected to open some theaters at reduced capacity on July 31, AMC Theatres announced Thursday that the company is facing the current reality and postponing the rollout until “mid to late” August. “This new timing reflects currently expected release dates for much anticipated blockbusters like Warner Bros.’ Tenet and Disney’s Mulan, as well as release dates for several other new movies coming to AMC’s big screens,” said AMC in a statement....

Angry Birds 2 downloads have already surpassed 30 million worldwide in just 14 days following the game’s launch, Rovio has announced. It was only a week ago that Rovio was celebrating reaching the 20 million downloads milestone. Rovio also notes that a third of all downloads have come from China, an important growing market for mobile games. Although direct comparisons are somewhat meaningless given that game’s premium origins, the original Angry Birds took nine months to reach 20 million downloads....

I was able to put several hours into Anno: Mutationem. However, the camera made me sick to the point that I had to stop playing it. In this case, that’s a bummer, because this game is awesome. A new trailer has dropped for the Beast of Prey collection event coming to Apex Legends. While the Gaiden collection event from Season 13 featured plenty of anime references, this time we’re looking more toward classic alien movies. Arma 3 is now free-to-play on Steam until May 10 as part of the Bohemia Interactive Publisher Weekend. Until May 10 you’ll be able to download and play Arma 3 at no cost, with access to all content except for the second and third campaign episode. Set in a massive military sandbox, Arma 3 features a wide variety of single and multiplayer content, over 20 vehicles and 40 weapons. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey brings some big changes to the series, and chief among them is that you can choose to play as either male protagonist Alexios, or female protagonist Kassandra. Director Scott Philips recently spoke to GamesIndustry about this, and said that he thinks ‘it would be a mistake to limit our players, limit our fanbase from as many people as possible.’ ‘I don’t know why we would go back. We should continue pushing in this direction, bring in more players, more fans to enjoy this experience and make it their own experience,’ the Quebec-based developer said....

Assassin’s Creed Origins is getting an official cheat mode known as The Animus Control Panel, allowing players to fiddle with all manner of in-game options to create a fully customised experience. Right now the functionality is only coming to the PC version of the open-world stealth title, as it’s part of the PC Uplay client. However, it offers a heap of parameters to tinker with, including changing the character you play as, buffing movement and diving speed, plus even upping the amount of tamed animals you want following you around....

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has now earned more than $1bn revenue, making it the first game in Ubisoft’s flagship franchise to do so. The Viking era epic passed the milestone in December, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot told investors last night (as noted by Axios). Released in late 2020, Valhalla has been another hugely-successful entry in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed saga, following 2018’s popular Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Crucially, however, Valhalla has also been the series’ best-supported in terms of post-launch content....
