Apex Legends developer Respawn has nerfed the Heat Sink skin iron sights and says it is “improving the competitive integrity of iron sights now and in the future”. In an update posted to the game’s official website (via Reddit), Respawn responded to players’ reports that some of the battle royale’s weapon skins offered an unfair competitive advantage when aiming down sights. “Competitive integrity is and will always be a core pillar for Apex Legends,” Respawn said....

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will now launch a week earlier than the originally scheduled date of November 17 and will now release November 10. It’s not a co-incidental move, as the announcement came just after Microsoft announced the launch date of the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, meaning the forthcoming viking-themed adventure will be an Xbox Series S/X launch title. And as a reminder, players who purchase the Xbox One version of the game will be able to upgrade to the Xbox Series S/X version at no extra cost....

Around two dozen members of staff have been laid off at Avalanche Studios following the completion of Mad Max and Just Cause 3, the company has confirmed. The redundancies were reported to have begun earlier this year after the release of Mad Max, Game Informer reports. “The transition between major projects is always challenging, especially for independent developers,” an Avalanche representative said in a statement provided to the site. “We have just completed one project and are currently wrapping up another....

Batman Arkham Knight on PS4 has received its second update, with a patch of approximately 100MB fixing the broken online leaderboards. With the update installed players of Arkham Knight on PS4 are able to view online leaderboards covering the game’s AR challenges and Gotham’s Greatest (an overall ranking based on numerous stats). Battlefield 1 has been knocking around for about 18 months now, so it’s probably no surprise to learn that DICE has decided to call time on monthly updates for its acclaimed World War I shooter this summer. Writing in a new blog post, the studio confirmed that monthly updates for Battlefield 1 will cease in June, although that doesn’t mean support for the shooter is stopping completely. For starters, following the release of Rupture as a free download, all maps from the They Shall Not Pass expansion will be made available to everyone from next month....

EA DICE has declared it’s winding down support for Hazard Zone in Battlefield 2042 for the foreseeable future. The studio revealed the news as part of their Battlefield Briefing development update last night. Explaining the reasoning behind the decision, senior community lead Adam Freeman admitted the mode hadn’t really taken off with fans. “All of us on the team had great ambition and high hopes for this new Battlefield experience throughout our development,” he said....
