Attack on Titan is one of those rare anime/manga things I can say is really good and not as a guilty pleasure. A strange hybrid between the usual humans-take-on-monsters-using-amazing-powers (in this case, technology) and a horror story in which lots of people die extremely bloodily, it scratches an itch I didn’t quite know I had. In Attack on Titan world, all known humanity exists in cities within three massive circular walls, the reason being that the horrific Titans lurk outside those walls....

Avalanche Studios Group, the developer of the Just Cause series, will establish a new studio in Liverpool, UK (via GamesIndustry.biz). Because the pandemic is ongoing, the new employees will work from home until a physical office space is possible. Currently, five developers make up the Liverpool team, with an aim to gain 20 more developers in the near future, then to attain a total of 50 developers within the next two years....

A fifth map for the imminent Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion has been confirmed by DICE. Once players in the Xbox 360, PC and PS3 community each collectively amass 69 million team actions, the Operation Hastings map, first made famous in the PC game Battlefield: Vietnam, will be unlocked. A team action is any/all of these: resupply, revive, heal, spot, and repair. Team actions performed both in the main game and the digital expansion count towards the common goal....

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now in Early Access, but things are far from done for Larian Studios. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Baldur’s Gate 3 has a few issues at launch. The game has suffered multiple delays that were likely related to stability issues. However, the developer asks that people be patient while it works on a hotfix. This should thrill fans of course, as its hard to be patient when the game is entirely unplayable....

Bethesda Game Studios has released a new episode of its Into the Starfield series to talk about music design in the upcoming action role-playing game. Audio Director Mark Lampert and Composer Inon Zur discuss the sound design and music going into Starfield, including the ways music can affect the player experience. Zur is famous for composing the music for games like Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Dragon Quest 2. Lampert has also worked on numerous games in the Fallout franchise....

An enhanced version of David Cage’s PS3 adventure Beyond: Two Souls will release digitally on PS4 next Thursday, November 26, Sony has announced. The game will only be available digitally at launch, with a physical collection featuring both that and a remastered version of Heavy Rain set to arrive at retail on March 4, 2016. The digital version of Beyond: Two Souls will cost £24.99, although those who pick it up will also be able to grab a discount on the digital version of Heavy Rain when it releases next year, ensuring they don’t pay more for the two games separately than they would for the collection....

Yeah the Bloodborne PSX demake project is cool and all, but it certainly doesn’t compare to Bloodborne Kart. Lilith Walther, who worked on the demake project that just released, has announced on Twitter that she’s also working on Bloodborne Kart, which will feature the same retro art style as the demake itself. It was originally unveiled as an April’s Fool joke last year, but the teaser video and the prospect of a Bloodborne kart-racing game itself was just too good to pass up, so it’s now officially a thing....

On November 21, Borderlands 3 players will be getting access to a new type of endgame content, Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite. Unlike the Bloody Harvest, this addition to the game will be permanent, as Takedowns are a new type of endgame activity designed to challenge players, as they have to be level 50 to even attempt this content. A lawsuit filed by Bungie against the perpetrator behind a series of fake Destiny 2 DMCA strikes is scheduled for a jury trial in 2024. The $7.7m lawsuit was filed last year due to a number of false copyright takedowns sent to Destiny 2 players in March. In June the perpetrator was identified as Nicholas Minor a.k.a Lord Nazo. At the time, Bungie alleged that Minor launched a “malicious campaign to serve fraudulent takedown notices to some of the most prominent and passionate members of that fanbase, purportedly on Bungie’s behalf, in apparent retaliation for Bungie enforcing its copyrights against material Minor uploaded to his own YouTube channel”....

Dissatisfaction with Solstice event items in Destiny 2 is reaching a boiling point. Amidst widespread criticism from players about having to re-earn previous seasonal armor, Bungie has announced that it has heard user feedback, but that it does not intend to implement any solutions for the next two seasons. Anyone that has played through Destiny 2’s events is familiar with both the harsh grind required to attain some of the event-exclusive armor, and the bitter disappointment of having to re-earn the gear next year as “ornaments,” cosmetic items that allow players to change weapon and armor appearances....

There has been a slight resurgence as of late in the point-and-click adventure gaming world. With TellTale Games pumping out their third season of the incredibly successful Sam and Max series, Zombie Cow Studios blessing us with Time Gentlemen, Please, and Monkey Island re-releases coming out on every console that turns on, it’s a good time to be an adventure gaming fan. A little studio called Amanita Design unveiled their largest game yet, Machinarium, last October, and what a game it is....
