For the first time, Square Enix’s RPG series Bravely Default will be available on a non-Nintendo console. Bravely Default II is coming to Steam next week, courtesy of a new trailer that just dropped today. The trailer is longer than normal, and gives a brief overview of the events of the story. For anyone who has played a JRPG before, it should all ring pretty familiar. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before....
Treyarch has added microtransactions to the PlayStation 4 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in the shape of Call of Duty Points. The paid-for currency can be used to purchase various items spanning Black Ops 4’s three modes, namely Blackout, Multiplayer, and Zombies. Players can buy them in varying amounts, including $1 for 100 Points, $20 for 2,400 Points, and $40 for 5,000 Points. However, you’ll get a free helping of 500 Points if you download and log in to the Call of Duty Companion app, so keep that in mind....
It turns out that AMD Radeon 7000 Series graphics cards might just feature DisplayPort 2.0 support. Twitter user Kepler_L2 recently posted a link to an AMD driver patch that references support for the new UHBR20 standard associated to DisplayPort 2.0. This will enable data throughput up to 80 Gbps, allowing for higher resolution gaming at higher framerates. When most gamers think of image quality and how to get the best framerates, they likely think of hardware first....
Announced at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase today, Among Us is coming to the Quest 2 this holiday season, and we got a glimpse of it through a teaser trailer. Nintendo has announced Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, a new spin-off title that lets players create their own dream home. Coming to Nintendo 3DS this autumn, Happy Home Designer tasks players with designing and decorating homes for Animal Crossing’s range of characters, furnishing their home with new items to make them happy. Additional houses can be designed by purchasing a new range of Amiibo cards featuring new characters, which can be scanned into the game using the New 3DS and New 3DS XL’s built-in NFC reader or, if you’re still using an older 3DS, by purchasing a separate NFC accessory....
Dropping almost out of the blue on Electronic Art’s Origin platform last Monday, Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends has picked up an incredible amount of steam in the few days it’s been available for download. In a space seemingly cluttered with dime-a-dozen Fortnite wannabes, EA’s new title, which is set in the Titanfall universe, is proving to be a legitimate contender in the extremely competitive battle royale arena. Time will tell if it manages to maintain a sizable player-base, but, for the moment, it certainly has everyone’s attention....
Apex Legends has announced a limited time Aftermarket Collection Event next week, which will also see the free-to-play battle royale shooter’s long-promised crossplay feature arrive in beta. Landing on October 6, the beta will allow PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC players playing on Origin (soon to be known as the ‘EA Desktop App’) play together in squads. The event will also bring along a new Limited Time Event known as Flashpoint, where health and armour pickups are nowhere to be found, and you’ll instead regenerate those in specific ‘Flashpoint’ zones dotted around the map....

The latest Apex Legends Stories from the Outlands episode took a step into the past to reveal the origins of Bloodhound. The video also revealed The Old Ways Event, which has Bloodhound receive the next Town Takeover. The Apex Legends team has now released a trailer for The Old Ways Event, showing off the first in-game footage of Bloodhound’s Trials, as well as some of the new cosmetics. The trailer mixes shots from the Stories of the Outlands video with the corresponding locations, enemies, and cosmetics in-game....
Studio Wildcard has announced that ARK: Survival Evolved is stomping its way onto Nintendo Switch this Fall with all of the content featured in previous versions of the prehistoric adventurer. The studio confirmed the news during Epic Games’ ‘State of Unreal’ keynote at the Game Developers Conference 2018 this week, before debuting a demo of the title running on the Big N’s latest hardware. The game is being developed in conjunction with Abstraction Games and will include over 100 additional prehistoric and fantasy-inspired creatures....
Renowned developer FromSoftware had a major surprise in store for longtime fans during The Game Awards last month. The studio unveiled an impressive cinematic trailer for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, the newest entry in the long-running mecha series. Considering Armored Core had not seen a new installment since 2013 up until this point, the announcement justifiably left fans more than a little excited. Additionally, the announcement serves as a refreshing break from the constant Souls games and other similar titles that FromSoftware has put out over the past decade....
Ubisoft has announced that it’ll be bringing Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection to the Nintendo Switch from this February. The collection includes all three games starring Italian hero Ezio Auditore; namely Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed Revelations. On top of three of arguably the most popular adventures in the early series, the package also includes two short movies; Assassin’s Creed Embers and Assassin’s Creed Lineage. In addition, all three games have received some extra Nintendo Switch specific features to take advantage of the hardware....
Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Desilets has revealed that he hasn’t played a Ubisoft game since 2012 because he can’t bear to see the publisher’s logo on his TV screen. Desilets left Ubisoft for a second time in 2013 after claiming that he was “terminated” by the company following the acquisition of his former workplace THQ Montreal, and later suing the publisher for $400,000. But despite the two parties’ history, he still claims to “love Ubisoft very much”....
The Assassin’s Creed series has never been weak in the area of imparting wisdom through dialogue, as we’ve had protagonists such as Altair and Ezio whose journeys have been ripe with various situations that give you a sense of deep understanding. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey continued this trend, but we were even more impressed with how human some of the characters were. Their responses toward tragedies were around the same you’d expect someone from contemporary times to have, making Odyssey’s cast filled with both wise and relatable characters....
Ubisoft’s open-world caper Assassin’s Creed Origins is out later this week, and Ubisoft wants us all to get very excited about going on a massive adventure through Ancient Egypt. In ‘Legend of the Assassin’ we see the protagonist Bayek as he gets up to all sorts of shenanigans. The two minute trailer shows Bayek getting into plenty of bothersome situations beginning with stabbing a man through the chest, sliding down the side of a pyramid, dueling with an elephant, strutting through a huge tomb, and fighting in a bloody colosseum....

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is getting its 1.0.4 patch today, which brings along a host of improvements for the Viking adventure including a new Graphics/Performance option for those playing the game on next-generation hardware. Once the patch is released later today, you’ll find a new toggle in your options menu on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with Performance mode setting the game to adapt the resolution and graphic settings dynamically to maintain 60FPS and Quality mode offering maximum resolution and graphic settings permitted by your console of choice to maintain 30FPS....
Following the release of Persona 5 in North America, and other territories outside of Japan, Atlus posted some streaming guidelines for consumers. They were widely reported on for being weirdly restrictive. Well, Atlus has now posted another, shorter blog post on the matter, and they’ve decided to back off a bit, though not entirely. You can now stream Persona 5 up until the in-game date of 11/19, November 19, rather than the original restriction to July 7....
