Following hot on the heels of pretty much every old game in the series, Atelier Sophie, plus its two siblings in the Mysterious trilogy, is getting a special version with some changes and extra content. Its not exactly the most well-liked game in the bunch, so I thought I’d break down all the new additions, as well as how the game holds up over these last few years. It’s worth mentioning that Steam is delisting the previous version of the game and, if you already own it, you’ll still have to buy Atelier Sophie DX....

A 10-hour trial of Battlefield Hardline is now available to EA Access members on Xbox One. The trial includes the opening two levels of the single-player campaign and access to the game’s entire lineup of multiplayer modes and maps. The trial comes ahead of the full game’s release next Friday, March 20, and offers players a taste of what to expect of Visceral’s spin-off shooter. EA warns players to quit the trial fully when exiting the game, however....

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was seen running on PC, Xbox One and PS4 at the game’s full reveal event in Santa Monica, in an orchestrated move to remove any negativity angled at the game’s multi-platform development from the off. “There are no ‘ports’” said Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia. “The game is made on multiple platforms, it’s the beginning of a new generation and we’re showing it to you on all these platforms, to dispel some of the misconceptions about development....

Although late for spooky season, officially ending with October 31st every year, developer Bloober Team today unveiled the release date for the physical copy of Blair Witch. The horror game, based on the eponymous movie, will hit the shelves in its physical form (which, in this context, sounds creepier than it should) on January 31st, 2020, for PlayStation 4,m and Xbox One. If you’ve seen the original film from 1999, you know that the story follows “recovered footage” from three young students who explored a forest in Maryland to investigate the legend of the Blair Witch in 1994....

The immediate and justified response to a Blair Witch game was one of skepticism. Here was a tie-in video game to a film franchise that changed the face of horror, only to quickly lose its footing and never seeming to regain it. While there are defenders, myself included, of Book of Shadows and Adam Wingard’s 2016 sequel, no followup has truly matched the frenzied, panicked terror of the 1999 film. Now, two decades later, Bloober Team has delivered a stellar sequel in Blair Witch, a terse and frightening game complimented by some of this year’s most engaging and novel mechanics....

Blizzard Entertainment’s co-leader Jen Oneal has announced she’s departing three months after her appointment to explore more games and diversity opportunities. Oneal published a leaving letter to the Blizzard community explaining the decision on the studio’s website. “I am doing this not because I am without hope for Blizzard, quite the opposite—I’m inspired by the passion of everyone here, working towards meaningful, lasting change with their whole hearts”. She added “This energy has inspired me to step out and explore how I can do more to have games and diversity intersect, and hopefully make a broader industry impact that will benefit Blizzard (and other studios) as well....

With everything happening with Blizzard, it’s hard to imagine that they’d do something to make the situation potentially worse. However, another person showed their solidarity with Hong Kong and they were quickly shut down. The American University Hearthstone team held up a sign that said “Free Hong Kong, Boycott Blizz” during the Collegiate Hearthstone Championship. After a few seconds, the broadcast cut them out of the broadcast, showing only the Worcester Poly team....

Hugely popular multiplayer shooter Overwatch may be more than a year old at this point, but its popularity shows no sign of slowing down, which is no wonder as Blizzard continue to add more content, unveiling a new hero and a new map in Moira and Blizzard World during Blizzcon this weekend. Moira is a support class, who’s backstory sees her being a genetic scientist from Ireland who was hired by covert ops division Blackwatch who later joined Talon when Overwatch disbanded....

Stray Fawn’s The Wandering Village - a city building sim set on the back of a giant, roaming creature - will be launching into Steam early access next Wednesday, 14th September. Announced last August, The Wandering Village tasks players with constructing a safe haven for a group of survivors in a dangerous, post-apocalyptic world. Its city building aspects might be familiar, but those are combined with resource management, rogue-like elements, and survival, all connected to the ever-moving creature, known as Onbu, the survivors now call home....

Destiny 2‘s Season of the Worthy has been highly criticized for a number of flaws. In our official review, we considered it as one of the most disappointing Destiny 2 DLCs thus far due to a lack of meaningful content. One content that’s part of the season calendar (seen below) is the Grandmaster difficulty for the Nightfall Ordeal which lets players obtain the Conqueror title. Sadly, it doesn’t look like it’s shaping up to be a very rewarding activity at first glance....

Activision has confirmed previous rumours that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will feature a battle royale mode. Battle royale has been popularised in recent months by the likes of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite, and makes its Call of Duty debut in the shape of Blackout. It’ll feature the biggest map that developer Treyarch has ever made, some 1,500 times larger than Nuketown. Speaking during a live event for the upcoming first-person shooter, the game’s Design Director, David Vonderhaar, said: ‘For us to even consider this experience it had to be unique and done in the way that only Black Ops can do it....
