Bluehole are best known these days for their work on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds but they have of course worked on their MMO TERA. Today publisher Kakao Games announced they will be bringing Bluehole’s new MMORPG Ascent: Infinite Realm to western audiences. This new MMO looks typically Korean with a steampunk fantasy influence. The game will feature Realm vs Realm (RvR) aerial combat, steampunk flying ships and other typical MMO fantasy features. A trailer has been released which doesn’t really sell the game, the trailer has been created showing appalling framerates, and dare I say it, it looks like so many other MMOs attempting this style....

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Rogue is now playable on Xbox One via backwards compatibility, Microsoft has confirmed. Rogue was the last Assassin’s Creed game to launch on previous-gen systems Xbox 360 and PS3, and many held it in higher regard than the next-gen Unity. The inclusion of naval combat was welcomed, especially given its absence from both Unity and the more recent Syndicate. AC Rogue is available from the Xbox Store priced £14....

Evolve and Back 4 Blood studio Turtle Rock is the latest acquisition by Chinese conglomerate Tencent after snapping up the former’s parent company Slamfire. The two companies made the announcement on Friday evening, saying the developer would keep its independent operations in California. The studio founders Phill Robb and Chris Ashton will continue to run operations, and the deal will have no effect on Back 4 Blood. Turtle Rock Studios’ president and general manager Steve Goldstein offered up the following quote....

Square Enix has released a day one patch for today’s release of platformer Balan Wonderworld following the emergence of a flashing bug in a late game scene that could potentially trigger adverse effects in people who suffer photo-sensitive conditions such as epilepsy. The bug was first brought to light by Game Informer journalist Liana Ruppert who alerted her followers to the bug which appears to occur in the game’s final boss fight with a rapid series of white on background flashes during a transition as part of the fight....

Electronic Arts has confirmed that Battlefield V failed to meet its sales expectations, despite the fact the game shifted 7.3 million copies during the quarter ended December 31, 2018. CFO Blake Jorgensen told investors during the publishing giant’s third quarter results that it had targeted closer to 8.3 for the World War II shooter. Furthermore, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said that delaying the game from October to November didn’t do Battlefield V any favours....

Traits or Perks in Loop Hero plays a big role in survival. They are the passive abilities unlocked as you level up. With three different classes Necromancer, Rogue, and Warrior it can be tough to figure out which are the best perks in Loop Hero. With this info, you can increase your character’s stats and for a short period of time use passive abilities also. Not all perks are easy to unlock, some require you to face bosses....

Yelan was introduced to Genshin Impact in the 2.7 update, bringing even more variety to the potential parties that players can run in the game. A 5-Star Hydro character, Yelan uses a bow and is a fantastic option for a sub DPS for any party that needs it. Her Elemental Skill, Lingering Lifeline, allows her to move quickly, marking her enemies with the Lifeline. When she stops, the Lifeline will explode, dealing Hyrdo damage to any marked target....

THQ Nordic has, as promised, released gameplay footage of upcoming open world action RPG Biomutant running on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, though it might be bad news if you’re picking the game up on a Sony current-gen console. As detailed in a disclaimer at the start of the PlayStation 5 video, it appears that developer Experiment 101 has had to disable the option for native 4K “due to stability and performance-related reasons” and, as a result, the footage below and the game on release will run in 1080p at 60FPS upscaled to 4K at 60FPS....

It looks like everyone’s favorite robot-armed swinger, Nathan “Rad” Spencer, will be back later this year to reprise his role in Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2. At the recent Hawaiian Captivate event Capcom showed off, among other things, a trailer for Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2. A sequel to one of 2008’s best digital download titles. Information is currently sparse, as the embargo is said to end tomorrow, but the fact that this game exists and is on it’s way fills my heart with joy....

BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend is heading to Europe later this year on PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and PS Vita, PQube has announced. The game will mark the 2D fighter’s first appearance on current-generation consoles, and includes an expanded version of the story from last year’s BlazBlue: Chronophantasma plus the stories from the original Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift. There’s so much content, in fact, that PQube claims that BlazBlue “crams in more single player content than any other fighter”, stating that it features “over 30 hours of single player gameplay”....

This feature alone has allowed companies to improve their mics without replacing the whole device, adding longevity to products. Darth Vader has resorted to calling in the big guns to look for Bendak Starkiller in Force Unleashed 2. That’s right, the galaxy’s most infamous and feared bounty hunter, Boba Fett, will be hunting you. Just the thought of Fett on your tail likely brings a sense of dismay and terror to most, but as a jedi trained under Vader Starkiller shouldn’t be too much of a problem… maybe. Fett, like any good hunter, knows that prey isn’t easily acquired without bait, so rather than go directly after Starkiller he decides to kidnap love interest Juno Eclipse in an attempt to lure Starkiller out of hiding....

BOWIE: Stardust, Rayguns, & Moonage Daydreams begins with a forward by Neil Gaiman called “If We Can Sparkle He May Land Tonight.” It recounts the author’s first contact with the third kind. David Bowie‘s songs were stories, he remembers, like the Gilbert and Sullivan ditties Gaiman preferred over rock and roll in his youth. He bonded with the rock star over the science fiction undercurrent in the music and image, and glorified him in his mind....

With Rise of Iron, creative director Chris Barrett has said the studio is giving “players as much as we can” but ultimately it will be the players who decide if that is enough. “We had a big playtest at the studio last week and the feedback was very positive, everybody liked the new content. Call of Duty Black Ops 4 has kicked off its massive Days of Summer update for the shooter on PlayStation 4, bringing with it a huge chunk of new content for all game modes as well as tweaks to the game. Headlining the update is the return of the classic Grind map last seen in Black Ops 2 for free for all players, which takes place in an arena featuing a huge skate park....

I played Crucible, and it was a solidly pedestrian experience for me. The map was littered with structures and populated with beasts, but there was very little grounding for these ideas. The heroes, though they had interesting mechanics, had their backstories hidden behind menus and they didn’t interact like the characters of Apex Legends or Overwatch. Matches tapped into the standard attack/defend, capture the point, and even a battle royale mode, but they felt like a slog....
