The battle royale empire genre can’t be toppled! The newest victim to want that easy cheddar is Pearl Abyss with Black Desert Online. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season Two is well under way, and recent patch notes have detailed what else is to come. Players should expect a new multiplayer game mode and a new zombies experience. In addition, there are various stability updates and bug fixes included, as well as a balance patch for Black Ops Cold War Oubreak mode. On March 4, a multiplayer game mode named Rapid Fire Moshpit will make its way into Black Ops Cold War....

It’s a big day for 2023 video game convention news. That’s right, Blizzard has said it is looking to bring back its BlizzCon event in 2023. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Blizzard boss Mike Ybarra said his company wanted “to return to a live event that enables us to celebrate the community” and was “committed to bringing back BlizzCon” next year. The annual BlizzCon event held in Anaheim has recently been pushed online due to Covid, and was then scrapped completely this year as Blizzard faced various allegations of staff misconduct and a toxic company culture....

BlizzCon 2016 will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center, California, on November 4 and 5, Blizzard has announced. Tickets for the event – which usually sell out very fast – will be made available first on April 20 (7pm Pacific time) and then a few days later on April 23 (10am Pacific time). “With more live games and upcoming content than ever before, 2016 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Blizzard gamers,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment....

Bossa Studios – developers of Surgeon Simulator and I Am Bread – are undertaking a free week for their latest game Decksplash from later today, with an interesting twist. The PC game, which is an online multiplayer mix between Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Splatoon, will only be released into early access if the player count reaches 100K players or more between November 2 to November 10. If the game does not meet that goal, then seemingly, it won’t be released at all....

The team at Bungie made the decision today to delay the Beyond Light expansion for Destiny 2. Beyond Light will now release on November 10, which is almost two months past the original September 22 date. The developer dropped a launch trailer for the game just moments ago. In it, we’re introduced to Crucible‘s zany cast of characters, each armed with their own weapons and abilities. There’s also an angry cat you can play, and I’m sure our own Tim McDonald is all about that shit. Room for one more One wonders if Crucible can stand out among all the other team-based shooters out today. And there are plenty to choose from....

There was a fantastic appearance of An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs (also known as Dog Airport Game) at PAX South this year – and the game is hilarious. For the vast majority of those who are probably scratching their heads, Dog Airport Game is an upcoming first-person puzzle game, heavily reliant on its surrealist humor and ridiculous environmental elements. Supposedly, Xalavier Nelson Jr. (the game’s developer) initially used stock photos of dogs a placeholder for the characters, but found it too funny to change – making it a permanent part of the game....

Respawn Entertainment has announced the date for the Eighth Season of battle royale shooter Apex Legends, as well as unveiling its latest Legends to join the roster in its latest Stories from the Outlands series. The season will be entitled Mayhem, and it’ll see the introduction of Fuse into the game. Described as “The Champion of Salvo” the character is clearly a bit of an explosives expert, described as a “blow-up-first-ask-questions-later kinda guy”....

Apex Legends’ next playable character, the enigmatic hacker Crypto, might be just one day out from being added to the battle royale shooter, but that isn’t stopping Respawn Entertainment from looking beyond him and start teasing what could very well be the character that will come next. Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has recorded the series’ best first-week sales of the current generation of hardware. Speaking in a press release, Geoffroy Sardin, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft, pointed out that there’s still plenty more to come from Odyssey beyond launch. He’s not exaggerating either, as the game has a wealth of post-launch content in the pipeline, including a remastered Assassin’s Creed III....

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is getting a set of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla-inspired armor and axe (via USGamer). The Northern Traveler’s Set looks more Skyrim than Scandinavian to me, but it’s a neat crossover between the two games. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is set to launch in late 2020, with the protagonist Eivor arriving on the shores of England after being expelled from their homeland. King Alfred isn’t thrilled with their presence though, and Eivor will build and break alliances to carve out a new life here....

Shaun Escayg is the creative director and writer for the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game, which is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal with Square Enix serving as the title’s publisher. And at a special Marvel’s Avengers event that was hosted by Virgin Media in London, Den Of Geek was lucky enough to sit down with Escayg for a quick chat about his game’s journey so far.
