Belarusian-based developer Sad Cat Studio has been forced to delay its upcoming game, Replaced, until 2023 due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Sad Cat Studios has a team of developers based both in Belarus and Ukraine. “The priority for Sad Cat was for the safety of the team and their families. As a result, part of the team has now relocated and work has only recently restarted on Replaced,” the studio wrote in a tweet....

One of the biggest surprises of 2015’s drug war thriller Sicario was the emergence of Alejandro Gillick, the shadowy Mexican lawyer turned U.S. government assassin played by Benicio del Toro in a stunningly dark and frightening performance. Gillick is not positioned as the movie’s main character (Emily Blunt’s FBI agent is), but gradually takes over the narrative, so it’s not unexpected to see him take an even more central role in the sequel, Sicario: Day of the Soldado....

Bethesda has issued lifetime bans to a group of Fallout 76 players following an in-game homophobic attack on another group of players. According to Eurogamer, the group, led by a player whose username is NathanTheHicc, “targeted and harassed” the other group. At different points, he made various homophobic remarks, also claiming that he and his friends came to “eliminate all gays”. Fallout 76 allows users to chat with other players who are near them; and the group took full advantage of the privilege, laughing and hurling abusive remarks throughout the 10-minute attack....

WWE’s NXT brand, at its core, works with hardcore wrestling fans because it’s inherently different from WWE’s big brands of RAW and SmackDown. The show tapes from Full Sail University, a smaller and much more intimate setting compared to WWE’s large arena productions for its “main roster” shows. Deadline confirms that Disney currently has no plans to push back the release of Black Widow following news earlier this week that Daniel Craig’s highly anticipated James Bond swansong, No Time To Die, would be moving to November from its planned April slot. “If theaters aren’t closing in North America, I don’t know why you would pull your movie,” Comscore Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian told the site, but admitted that “studios will have to be responsive, nimble and willing to move titles around if need be....

Blizzard president J. Allen Brack apologised and accepted accountability for the developer’s reaction to Hearthstone pro Chung ‘Blitzchung’ Ng Wai’s vocal support for Hong Kong protesters while livestreaming on its official Twitch channel (via Vice). Brack spoke to an audience on stage, and while he did not refer to the controversy in its particularities, it was clear that he meant the fallout that erupted when the company penalised the pro player for his political speech....

Last Thursday, Blizzard held an event in South Korea to promote the release of StarCraft 2 - which arrives next month. Since the event, frustration has been brewing regarding the lack of LAN functionality in the upcoming release. Many-a-fan had been assured that StarCraft 2 would feature a “Professional Edition” for high-ranking e-sport tournaments in South Korea, which would have advanced LAN features allowing for proper tournament play. Unfortunately, it’s all hearsay at this point, as Blizzard’s PR team sent word to Big Download that there will be no professional edition....

In celebration of Blizzard’s 25th anniversary the World of Warcraft maker has erected a 14 foot, 4,000 pound, bronze portrayal of the Lich King Arthas Menethil in Taiwan. The statue was designed by Taiwanese artist Steve Wang and can be found on the Calligraphy Greenway in Taichung, Taiwan. “We are thrilled to see the unveiling of Arthas, created by Taiwanese designer, Steve Wang, happening in Taichung,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment....

Blizzard has stated it won’t be changing the balance of its heroes in Overwatch 2 until the game’s second season. In its latest developer blog post, Blizzard detailed its “current thinking on hero balance and gameplay”, including map rotation and player ranking. “While some heroes are performing better than others, and there are differences across player skill levels, we have been happy to see that no hero’s overall power level is far out of line with our goals,” Blizzard said....

Currently, Australia is being overrun by a destructive “megafire” that has scorched about 2,300 square miles, which makes its impact worse than that of any recorded Californian fire. As a way to contribute charity for the Australia fires, Destiny series developer Bungie will be donating funds raised from the purchase of Destiny 2 merchandise, starting next week. Specifically, Bungie will release a brand-new Destiny 2-themed t-shirt next week. The money raised from the purchase of said t-shirts will be donated to the cause of fighting the disastrous fires in Australia and assisting in rescuing the animals impacted by the fires, according to GameSpot....
