Square Enix and PlatinumGames are binning off their beleagured live service game Babylon’s Fall. Future updates planned for the game have been scrapped, and its servers will go dark on 28th February next year. After that, you will no longer be able to log in and play. Babylon’s Fall only launched in March this year, but has struggled to attract players from the get-go. Square Enix confirmed it was pulling the plug this morning, and said it would run a final season of content from November until the game goes dark....

Last year Streamers and Youtubers were caught being involved in a CS:GO gambling scandal which was exposed e-sports journalist Richard Lewis. The result of this revelation saw accounts closed and legal action being taken against some involved in the CS:GO gambling scene. One of the Youtuber and Twitch streamers caught up in the scandal was James “Phantoml0rd” Varga. Varga was implicated in being involved with a gambling CS:GO site CSGOShuffle where he was complicit in rigging the percentages of wins and losses....

EA and DICE have announced a group of partnerships for the forthcoming Battlefield 2042, which include naming the Xbox Series X|S as the “official consoles” of the shooter. As reported by Gamespot, the press release doesn’t give any further details as to what this partnership entails, although the game will still release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC as previously established. It’s not currently known if the deal means Xbox will get access to DLC or additional content first, or if the game will get format-exclusive features....

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will run at 30 frames per second on Xbox 360 and PS3 – half the speed of all previous games in the series, Beenox has revealed. Speaking to Develop, creative director Thomas Wilson explained that Beenox and Mercenary Technology, the two teams behind the 360/PS3 ports, had “tried to hit” 60fps, but that they ran into difficulties working on the older platforms. “We’re basically looking more at something like 30fps,” he said....

Developer Frictional Games has announced it has released a new update for horror title Amnesia: Rebirth, adding a new ‘Adventure Mode’ that allows players to enjoy the game “without monsters, darkness and jumpscares.” The new mode is billed by the developers as “a new way to experience the fantastic quest of Tasi Trianon with its captivating narrative, cool environments, unique theme and challenging puzzles, without the anxiety-inducing, and very distressing elements present in the original game....
