Anime-focused streaming service Crunchyroll is now available on Switch. After downloading the Crunchyroll app from Nintendo’s eShop, members will have full access to the streaming service’s catalogue - totalling over 1,000 series across 30,000 episodes, including big hitters like One Piece and Attack on Titan to lesser-knowns and more recent offerings. Shows will be streamable in docked mode on TV or in handheld and tabletop modes. Members that subscribe to Crunchyroll’s more expensive Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan tiers will also have access to the same offline viewing features available on other devices, meaning they’ll be able to download their shows of choice to Switch and watch them on the go....

The Annabelle series of horror movies is continuing, which is a pretty neat feat when you think about it. As the first Annabelle was a prequel to the supposedly true story in The Conjuring, while the second film was a prequel to the prequel. So were we getting a prequel to the prequel of the prequel? Well… not exactly. Rather, this appears to take place after both of the thus far released Conjuring films, but more on that in a moment....

It happens to us all, we are gleefully minding our own business in Apex Legends, perhaps with a great team and some nice finds throughout the match, when suddenly we are killed and have absolutely no idea what happened. Well, no more! Players can celebrate that a kill-cam, a long-requested feature in the game, seems to finally be in development. The news comes from a data miner named, That1MiningGuy, who tweeted leaked scrips purporting to show that the basic components of a kill reply feature have been added to the game....

Apex Legends Season 4 gets underway on February 4. Forge, a buff dude with a robotic arm, is currently the only confirmed new character. However, some internet sleuths on Reddit have done what they do best and found promotional artwork for a second character called Revenant. Forge looks like a weird matchup of a 19th-century British prizefighter and Jax from Mortal Kombat. Meanwhile Revenant, well, seems marketed towards the same crowd that likes Reaper in Overwatch....

Legacy gaming brand Atari has confirmed plans to build several Atari gaming hotels in the United States. The company’s last major gaming release was the Atari VCS console which isn’t trying to take on the PS4 and Xbox One and is more of a PC that lets players stream music and videos and play games such as Asteroids. In a press release, Atari said that it had signed a licensing deal with US real estate developer True North Studio and GSD Group, to lend its name to eight gaming hotels....

After this morning’s “State of Play” stream from Sony, it was hard to imagine how Nintendo could top the competition with indie games. For as creative and genuinely thrilling as indie games are, there’s something about Resident Evil 3 that just sets the world on fire. Somehow, Nintendo succeeded in making a more interesting stream. While not everything shown looks that incredible, we got a confirmation of sequels to Golf Story and Axiom Verge, a look at a returning veteran in Streets of Rage 4, and even a new trailer for Skatebird....

It seems like fans of Souls-like games just can’t get enough. Bandai Namco announced today that its Dark Souls inspired action title Code Vein has managed to sell over one million copies. This number is a big deal considering Vein’s status as a new IP and how it isn’t related to developer FromSoftware in any manner. This should also quell fears that Code Vein won’t be getting a sequel (not that anyone was fearing that)....

Bulkhead, the Derby-based developer of old-school WW2 shooter Battalion 1944, has announced a “formal end” to its relationship with Square Enix. The Final Fantasy publisher purchased a 20 percent stake of Bulkhead back in 2018, and announced plans for a fresh project at the studio. Today also brings a long-awaited update on Battalion itself, which will get an “overhauled, final update” and name change to Battalion: Legacy on 16th August, when it will also be made available for free via Steam....

Electronic Arts recently revealed that Battlefield 1 would be joining the EA Access and Origin Access games Vault. Announced alongside Titanfall 2, which recently released into The Vault, Battlefield 1 is now available for download for subscribers on Xbox One and PC. To get the game on Xbox One you will have to open the EA Access app on the console and get it off there. Battlefield 1’s arrival onto EA Access comes in advance of the release of the next DLC expansion pack In the Name of the Tsar, which is due to release in September....

DICE has rolled out the first major update for Battlefield V following a brief delay, with Overture adding a ton of new content and fixes into the mix for the World War II shooter. The biggest additions come in the shape of the new War Stories mission, The Last Tiger, which focuses on a German tank crew during the final stages of the conflict. The future of Bethesda’s free-to-play multiplayer action game Battlecry looks in doubt after the publisher revealed it has concerns about the title. Despite the game having a presence at E3, it appears it may be even further off than planned. “We have concerns about the Battlecry game and whether it is meeting the objectives we have for it,” reads a statement from the publisher given to Progress Bar. “We are evaluating what improvements the game needs to meet our quality standards....

BioWare has reaffirmed that it’s still working away on new instalments in the Dragon Age and Mass Effect franchises. While the company is obviously busy right now with the upcoming Anthem, BioWare’s General Manager, Casey Hudson, made it clear that there’s more in the pipeline in regards to its much-beloved fantasy and sci-fi epics — he’s just not in a position to talk about them right now. Speaking in the studio’s mid-summer update, Hudson wrote: ‘we hear loud and clear the interest in BioWare doing more Dragon Age and Mass Effect, so rest assured that we have some teams hidden away working on some secret stuff that I think you’ll really like – we’re just not ready to talk about any of it for a little while....
