Next week’s free games for the Epic Games Store have been revealed, and headlining the reveal is Amnesia: Rebirth, which Epic Games users will be able to pick up for free come April 21. The other free game coming to Epic is Riverbond. It’ll also be available on April 21, with both games staying free until April 28. Rebirth is a critically acclaimed horror game that released in 2020 and was developed by Frictional Games, a studio with plenty of experience in the horror genre....

Update, 8.20pm July 27: Tim Neff and his agent have now disavowed the story, saying Neff is ‘definitely not a part of that’ in reference to GTAVI. Neff himself has said he doesn’t even have an account on the site the CV was posted to, and is putting it down to trolling. This hasn’t stopped the speculation, however, with one NeoGAF user now claiming to have worked for Rockstar in 2012, at which point the work on the ‘next’ GTA game after V was already starting pre-production....

Angel wasn’t all darkness and hellfire and the inevitable march of all mankind towards the emptiness of death and/or a hell dimension of one variety or another. One of the pleasures of watching Angel for fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was seeing Buffy’s dark, broody vampire boyfriend lighten up a little. Moving to his own show allowed Angel’s character to show off far more sides of himself than had been possible when his role was largely confined to mooning over Buffy, trying to kill Buffy, and mooning over her again, and we got to see far more of David Boreanaz’ comic chops in the spinoff....

From February 9, Apex Legends players have been celebrating two years of the hero-based battle royale by taking part in the Anniversary Collection Event. The event boasts a whopping 31 free cosmetic items for players to earn. Unlocking all those free skins is taking a little longer than expected. So, in the spirit of giving, EA has announced that the end date of the Apex Legends Anniversary Collection Event will be extended for an additional week....

Respawn Entertainment has announced the latest event for Apex Legends, Lost Treasures Collection, and there’s a whole lot of plunder to be plundered. The event begins on June 23 and ends on July 7. As always, there is an exclusive Event Prize Track with two Legendary Weapon skins, as well as limited time cosmetics to be purchased or unlocked in Lost Treasure Event Packs. There’s a dapper skin for Crypto, an intrepid skin for Wattson, a royal skin for Revenant, and a marble skin for Wraith, to name a few....

The time of hints and teases is over. EA and Respawn Entertainment have finally set an official premiere date for Season 3 of Apex Legends, following weeks of speculation, rumors, and leaks. According to EA, the next season of Apex Legends, titled Meltdown, will kick off on October 1. Plenty of new content will be added to the first-person battle royale shooter on that day, but perhaps the biggest addition will be that of the next playable Legend, the hacker known as Crypto....

During Sunday’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, we were treated to an array of announcements and fresh gameplay footage. The show began with our first peek at some Redfall gameplay, and ended with an extended look at Starfield. In between, there were even more announcements and trailers. As Dusk Falls was among the games that got a trailer, outlining the story of the families at the heart of the game, as well as a release date....

Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed game will apparently revolve around Vikings, according to a new report on Kotaku. The Viking setting originally started doing the rounds after folk spotted a teaser in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. The in-game poster features an image of a Norse god, the word Valhalla, and what appears to be an Apple of Eden in his hand. The latter is obviously an item long associated with the franchise, being an object wielded by the precursor race, aka Those Who Came Before....

The ever-expanding world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will receive one of its final major updates tomorrow, as it adds a final set of puzzle tombs via patch 1.6.1. This activity was originally added to the game earlier this year, and adds a new storyline expanding upon the series’ mysterious precursor Isu race, doled out by exploring a string of fun puzzle dungeons. It also allows for Eivor to come face-to-face with a series of British figures from history before her time - such as the ancient queen of the Iceni, Boudicca....

Koei Tecmo has unleashed a fresh batch of details on the multiplayer mode for Attack on Titan 2. The game offers a bunch of new distractions for those looking to team up with a mate for the titan-slaying sequel, including online co-op for the main story and scout missions. If on the other hand you feel like knocking seven bells out of your buddies, then Attack on Titan 2’s competitive multiplayer shenanigans should have you covered....

Free-to-play fighting game Rise of Incarnates is to shut down on December 15, Bandai Namco has announced. The game only officially launched on July 1. “We must regretfully inform all users of the closure of Rise of Incarnates. We offer our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported this game . We will be keeping the servers open until December 15, 2015, so please continue to enjoy Rise of Incarnates until the very end,” explains the publisher....

Bulkhead Interactive’s Battalion 1944, the WW2 multiplayer shooter, will be published for PS4, Xbox One and PC by Square Enix Collective. “We would never partner with any publisher that would take our creative freedom. This is why we’ve decided to partner with our friends at the Square Enix Collective, who some of you may know from our previous release ‘The Turing Test’ which released on Steam, Playstation 4 and Xbox One, February 2016,” explained the developer on its Kickstarter page....

Surprise! Battlezone 98 Redux, a remastered version of Activision’s 1998 tank shooter, will be available to download on Steam today, Rebellion has announced. The game will be priced £14.99, with a 20% launch discount available during its first week on sale. Developed by Big Boat Interactive, Battlezone 98 Redux is described by Rebellion as “the definitive version of one of the most beloved sci-fi strategy titles ever made”, and features the original game remastered in HD, including two single-player campaigns and 8-player online multiplayer....
