Assassin’s Creed: Unity has been hitting the headlines this week, thanks to its faithful in-game recreation of Notre-Dame. The famous Parisian cathedral suffered a fire earlier this week and Ubisoft have been on hand to pledge their support. The love they’ve shown to Paris has come back to them tenfold with Assassin’s Creed: Unity being review bombed on Steam. Unlike traditional review bombing, where players protest against companies or decisions by leaving negative game reviews, this time players have brought a love bomb to the game....

Microsoft has confirmed that an Xbox Series X gameplay reveal event is set for May 7 at 8.00am PT/11.00am ET/4.00pm BST, and it will feature Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (via VGC). A special Inside Xbox episode will show off the next-generation gameplay from Xbox’s global development partners. Note “partners,” not “partner.” Ubisoft has signed up, obviously, and we could imagine that CD Projekt Red has also stepped up to the plate. There is an official Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One console and controller, and the game is integrated into the Xbox Series X Smart Delivery offer....

The original Avatar movie remains the highest grossing film of all time even to this day. With so much demand, it’s definitely thrown a lot of fans for a loop that nothing impressive has come from it since then. That drought ended today though when Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed a trailer for a new game called Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The game already looks as much a visual master as the film, with next generation graphics that are sure to demand some serious hardware....

CD Projekt RED has announced that it will once more reach out to Bandai Namco for publishing help. The company that is bringing us Soulcalibur VI later this week will distribute Cyberpunk 2077 in 24 European countries. The two companies have built a strong partnership over the years. Bandai Namco took the charge on bringing both The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to Europe in 2011 and 2015 respectively....

The World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth expansion will release globally on August 14. In preparation for the new expansion, a pre-patch download will be available on July 17. This will help ease players into the newly added features, abilities, and class updates. The pre-patch will include new features, such as the Battle for Azeroth Class update, War Mode, and PvP changes. To further change the landscape of WoW, the Communities update will also unfurl during the pre-patch launch....

DICE has announced that Firestorm, Battlefield V’s dedicated battle royale offering, is getting a new Duo Mode. The mode does exactly what it says on the tin, allowing you to team up with another player to tackle the battle royale experience. It joins the Solo and Squad modes that are currently available in Firestorm, and will be available until April 15. ‘It’s our first time putting Duo out into the wild having started work on the mode much later in Firestorms development....

EA has released a teaser trailer for the Star Wars Battlefront Battle of Jakku DLC, available earlier to those who pre-order. “Be among the first players to experience the Battle of Jakku, the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet,” reads the trailer’s blurb. “Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku shown in Star Wars: The Force Awakens....

Today Bethesda revealed the full schedule of its upcoming Quakecon event that will be aired between August 18 and August 20. British development studio Revolution Software has announced that it is to team up with French publisher Microids to release adventure sequel Beyond A Steel Sky on consoles later this year. The game, which originally released on PC and Apple Arcade last year is set a decade after the events of the 1994 original point and click adventure Beneath a Steel Sky, and sees players return to the shoes of Robert Foster whose investigation of the abduction of a child leads him back to the dystopian cyberpunk locale of Union City—a so-called ‘utopia’ hiding a dark secret....

Blackwind is a top-down, sci-fi action brawler and shooter that has you piloting a cutting-edge mech with some sharp-edged laser blades. That’s ticking a lot of the right boxes for me.
