Electronic Arts and DICE blew the lid off of the next Battlefield game earlier today. Now called Battlefield 2042, it will be the first game in the franchise to offer matches with up to 128 players at once. And what will that many people do on this field of battle? Well, likely the same thing players do in every Battlefield game: blow shit up. EA knows its product well, as during the Battlefield 2042 reveal trailer we witnessed a quintessential moment of a pilot leaving a jet just to rocket down a pursuing craft....

Speaking on BBC Radio 4, reporter Marc Cieslak revealed that the controversial airport scene in the game “saddened rather than shocked” him, largely because it disproved his belief that the video games industry had “grown up a little bit”. It’s with mixed feelings that I view BioWare these days. Around a decade ago, the Canadian studio was one of my favorite developers of Western RPGs. During a Bloodborne gameplay demo at 2014’s PlayStation Experience, an enemy with a flaming hook for a hand was shown off, and remained undiscovered until now. At the big PlayStation focused event Hidetaka Miyazaki took the stage to show the, at the time, unreleased game in action. During the demo a flaming undead giant with sharp weapons for hands showed up, but not a single Bloodborne player reported coming across the enemy once the game came out in 2015, and it was believed to have been cut from the final game....

Gearbox Software, the studio behind Borderlands and Battleborn, has revealed a new game, currently codenamed Project 1v1. According to the website, Project 1v1, ‘’combines the action of fast-paced 1v1 first-person combat with the metagame strategy of a collectible card game’ and there will be a Closed Technical Test later this summer. Players who’re interested in taking part can sign up to the beta via Gearbox’s Shift website. The test is asking for a limited number of players, in order to test the game’s online infrastructure and for said players to send feedback....

Bungie has opted to release some information on what gamers can expect to see in the Halo: Reach beta (launching May 3). Sandbox lead design Sage Merrill, sandbox designer Josh Hamrick, and community manager Brian Jarrard were interviewed by Game Informer and they spilled quite a bit of information about the beta, including weapons, armor abilities, and vehicles. First off, Reach will include a plethora of new weapons that are both brand new or old with a bit of a new touch....

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 owners can now snap up the game’s Zombies maps individually on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Each map will set you back $7.99 (or your regional equivalent) and doing so will net you five extra vials of Liquid Divinium to aid you in your zombie-slaying shenanigans. PC owners will be able to purchase the maps individually soon, Activision said. Essentially this allows you to be more selective when it comes to Black Ops 3’s Zombies offering, as you won’t need to fork out for whole downloadable content packs to gain access to the maps you want....
