Russell Lees, a video games industry veteran with a long career at Ubisoft, has passed away. Word of Lees’ death was shared on Twitter last night by Assassin’s Creed narrative director Darby McDevitt, who led tributes to his colleague. At Ubisoft Montreal, Lees wrote several story arcs for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as well as the game’s Ireland-set Wrath of the Druids DLC. As a writer and narrative designer, Lees also contributed to Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed 3’s Tyranny of King Washington expansion....

Babylon’s Fall, it’s fair to say, hasn’t got off to the strongest of starts. Not only did the Square Enix and PlatinumGames collaboration launch to mediocre reviews, it struggled to attract much interest from players. A new playable character is heading to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s multiplayer mode next Tuesday, June 14, Activision has announced. Blackjack, the game’s Black Market vendor, can be unlocked as a playable Specialist by completing ‘Mercenary Contracts’, a new type of weekly challenge due to be added to the game. Once completed, you’ll be given the chance to play as him for a “limited gameplay time”. Blackjack features two unique abilities, including the option to access the weapon of each Specialist he kills, and another that lets him active a random Ability at an accelerated rate....

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s multiplayer mode is free to play on PC all weekend, Treyarch has announced, letting players get a taste of the game without having to spend a penny. To get involved, all you need to do is download the Multiplayer Starter Pack from Steam and you’ll be able to play for free until 9pm BST on Sunday. There are some restrictions, though: The Multiplayer Starter Pack does not allow players to Prestige or play custom games....

As worries over the coronavirus continue, Blizzard Entertainment isn’t feeling all that confident for BlizzCon 2020.
