“Everybody’s happy now,” is the familiar refrain from Aldous Huxley’s classic novel Brave New World, and the phrase becomes the central irony of the adaptation on the new Peacock streaming service. Two of the main characters who immediately begin to question whether their supposed happiness in New London is truly fulfilling are Bernard Marx, the Alpha Plus counselor played by Harry Lloyd (Legion), and Lenina Crowne, the Beta Plus fertility specialist played by Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey)....

Halo: Reach will be taking a page out of the Modern Warfare and Rainbow Six playbook and will be enabling players to level-up and purchase items through their “Player Investment” system, developed by Luke Smith. The only difference is that Bungie’s Player Investment system will still keep all players on even ground, separate from the level-up system you see in Modern Warfare 2. The Player Investment system is driven by Credits (cR for short) that players will be able to accumulate in both single player and multiplayer games alike....

Cyanide has announced that Lovecraftian horror title Call of Cthulhu has gone gold, so obviously it’s released a new trailer to celebrate the milestone. Call of Cthulhu is due for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on October 30, so you have a perfect excuse to stay in for Halloween and dine on junk food. The game takes place in the year 1924, and sees Edward Pierce investigating the Hawkins family murders on the spooky Darkwater Island, a case that has a serious impact on his sanity as he tangles with its creepy inhabitants....

There were already rumors of a potential return to the Cold War for 2020’s Call of Duty. A new leak confirmed by Eurogamer suggests these rumors were true with the next game in the Activision series being called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The leak itself is not official artwork by any means. In fact, Okami has taken the original Black Ops cover and shoddily added the words “Cold War” onto the end....

Most people know that games like Call of Duty: Black Ops and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock have been staples in best seller lists for as long as they’ve been available. The market research group NPD has compiled its list of the ‘best selling games of all-time....

The previously teased AMD Adrenalin driver release is out today, taking the software to version 17.12.1. This is one of the more significant driver updates, and adds a few features (particularly to Radeon’s ReLive video capture tools). There’s a new Overlay feature, which can bring up a quick way to toggle existing features like ReLive, Radeon Chill, or FreeSync. In addition to that, there’s a Performance Monitor that will show system metrics in DirectX 9, 11, 12, and Vulkan applications....

amiibo Touch & Play: Nintendo Classics Highlights will launch as a free download for Wii U on April 30, Nintendo has announced. With Touch & Play Wii U users can unlock a range of three-minute gameplay highlights from select NES and SNES games by tapping an amiibo on the Wii U GamePad. Titles are randomly assigned from a roster of 30 games when you tap an amiibo for the first time, with subsequent taps loading a different scene from the same game....

First-person toddler horror Among the Sleep is getting a worldwide physical release on PS4 and PC this summer, it’s been announced. The physical version will be published by SOEDESCO, the publisher behind the physical launch of Ether One, Teslagrad and The Last Tinker: City of Colours. An exact release date has yet to be confirmed. Among the Sleep sees players stepping into the role of a two year-old child, whose imagination sees everyday objects come to life as monsters....

Nintendo will soon be introducing a paid subscription service for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, its free-to-play take on the cult classic series. Called “Pocket Camp Club,” players will be able to shell over some cash monthly for the “ability” to assign a villager as a camp caretaker and to get a warehouse for extra storage. Extra fortune cookies are also being handed out if players part with their cash. This is similar to a model Mario Kart Tour employs....

What Loren Bouchard did for the archetypal humble burger joint with Bob’s Burgers, in his latest project he’s doing for one very iconic space: Central Park, New York’s oasis of nature smack in the middle of the island of Manhattan. In Central Park, a new animated musical series premiering on Apple TV+, Bouchard once again blends class commentary with the power of song via the Tillermans, a biracial family of caretakers who must defend the park from greedy eighty-something heiress/entrepreneur Bitsy Brandenham (voiced by Stanley Tucci)....

Cel-shaded tactical action game Arslan: The Warriors of Legend is coming to PC ahead of the previously announced console versions, Koei Tecmo has announced. Arriving on Steam on February 9, Arslan is said to blend the “fast paced tactical action gameplay” of the publisher’s Warriors franchise with a “stunningly engaging narrative”. You can check out what it looks like in the screenshots through here. PC players who purchase the game within the first month of launch will also be able to download two additional scenarios – ‘Conflict at Gujarat Fortress’ and ‘Battle for the Title’ – for use within the game’s Free Mode, which Tecmo says feature “some very special Limited Skill Cards” that can be used to gain an “extra edge” in battle....

Just two weeks after launch, Elden Ring has reached a colossal 12 million units sold worldwide. According to a press release from publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment and developer FromSoftware, 1 million units were sold in Japan. The open-world action/RPG hybrid launched on February 25. It has been consistently among the best-selling games on Steam, as well as Xbox and PlayStation platforms. The impressive sales figure encompasses all platforms, as well as both physical and digital versions of the game....

The world of Microsoft Flight Simulator is about to get a whole lot bigger, with the introduction of helicopters, and more. Popping out from the clouds is some new content from Asobo Studios, including an upcoming World Update, a new gameplay feature, and two new official aircraft — each the first of their kind for the game. The upcoming World Update V, which was originally set to release this week, will instead be coming in September....

Initially announced in the latest Dengeki PlayStation, Famitsu followed up revealing that Atelier Ryza: Queen of Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout will be coming to PC and Switch as well. However, while the PS4 and Switch versions are planned to be released this fall in Japan, the PC version’s release date has not been announced. It’s safe to assume the PC version will be releasing alongside the console western releases of the game....

Azur Lane is very popular among figure manufacturers, and another of its shipgirls is getting a figure that has been made available for pre-order. The figure by Actoys portrays Agir, which fans will know as one of the PR Shipgirls available in the game, introduced back in 2021. PR Shipgirls require extreme grinds to be unlocked and basically represent World of Warships’ evil influence on Azur Lane. Like most of the semi-recent ones, Agir personifies a “paper ship” that was never actually built in the real world, but has been implemented as a basically fictional cruiser in World of Warships anyway to fuel Wargaming’s endless need to nickel and dime the game’s fans....

On Friday the 31st of July, the Bafta TV 2020 awards will take place as a closed-studio socially distanced ceremony. (Translation: nobody needs to get a leg wax, Batman slippers as footwear under tuxes and red carpet gowns entirely acceptable.) The opening cinematic for Baldur’s Gate 3 was officially revealed during Larian Studios’ PAX East panel today, and it’s as wildly fun as fans would hope. It’s been established through previous teasers for the game and promotional material that mind flayers (aka illithid, a classic D&D monster) would be the main villain for Baldur’s Gate 3, but the opening cinematic takes everything to a whole new level. Baldur’s Gate 3 is ramping up for an early access release later this year, and its entire PAX East presentation was far more than just the cinematic, with over an hour of time devoted to Larian’s gameplay reveal....
