Brave New World, an adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s seminal sci-fi novel, is coming to NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service. The series was originally set for USA Network, where it received a straight-to-series order for a 10-episode inaugural season by the NBCU-owned cable outlet. Huxley first published Brave New World in 1931 – originally intended as a parody of H.G. Wells’s dystopian efforts – depicting a far-future (in approximately 2540 AD,) in which even the most miniscule aspects of civilization and its inhabitants are controlled; a world in which genetically engineered people are born from artificial wombs, divided into castes, prohibited from privacy and families, and have designated roles in life....

People Can Fly, the studio responsible for brilliantly over-the-top shooter Bulletstorm, has announced it’s shifting up a gear on development of its AAA shooter for publisher Square Enix. To facilitate production of the mystery title, the company has confirmed it has now opened two additional studios; one in Newcastle, UK and another in Poland under the name People Can Fly Rzeszow. Apparently the UK branch has been alive and kicking since September last year, and features former Ubisoft employees and other veteran industry talent....

Bungie, the developer behind the Destiny franchise, has been doing pretty good. Destiny 2 is massively successful, with more players and content arriving for the game consistently. This success has driven growth for the developer, which has confirmed that it’s broadening its horizons in the coming years. In the short term, Bungie will be adding to its library with a new IP launching by 2025. Further on down the line, the company is also planning to expand Destiny from just being a game franchise....

The AMD Radeon RX 6000 series is starting to make itself public after the launch of both the Radeon RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT on November 18. That said, they aren’t the only graphics cards in production for the Radeon RX 6000 family. AMD’s high-end Radeon RX 6900 XT as well as the mid-range RX 6700 and 6700 XT are also set to come out in the near future....

AMD has been creating a lot of noise with the introduction of its new FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) upscaling algorithm. The technology is more or less a competitor to Nvidia’s DLSS, though the general consensus is that Nvidia’s solution remains the more impressive solution when talking strictly about image quality. However, FSR is available on all modern GPUs and apparently far easier for developers to implement in games. That’s what today’s announcement is all about....

A Prince of Persia is being remade for PlayStation 4 and Switch, according to a retailer. The last game in the series was Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, part of The Sands of Time series, released for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS in 2010. It was alright. It was evident that the series was running out of steam at this point in its history: creator Jordan Mechner didn’t come back to work on Warrior Within, and he criticised the increasingly dark tone of the trilogy....

Microsoft Flight Simulator stands out among most other titles due to the sheer fidelity of its graphics engine. Screenshots and gameplay clips are often mistaken for real-life captures, even by some avid simmers. Yet, REX Game Studios, a well-known flight sim add-on company, has come forward with the Real Global Airport Textures software package that it promises will push the graphics capabilities of Microsoft Flight Simulator even further. After toying with the new add-on on my virtual trip through the “last frontier” known as Alaska, I’m left with one overarching question....

Patrice Desilets, creator of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series, has revealed some information on his upcoming game Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. At the Reboot Develop conference in Croatia, Desilets outlined some of the previously unannounced changes to the project (via VG247). Ancestors is a third-person action adventure set millions of years ago, containing survival elements, as well as tasking the player with managing their resources. Initially planned to be released episodically, Desilets said the 32-person staff at Panache is creating something where the episodic format doesn’t work anymore....

Ubisoft has apparently been working on some sort of community tool for players to use in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. AccessTheAnimus on Twitter revealed that they “were kindly invited to test” this tool by Ubisoft. AccessTheAnimus is a known social hub for Assassin’s Creed content, publishing articles about the franchise and its lore since some of the earliest entries in the series. Details as to what this tool is will most likely remain unknown for now (unless we are treated to another Watch Dogs Legion or Ghost Recon Breakpoint style leak)....

UPDATE 19/4/22: Ubisoft has now confirmed today’s big Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update, which includes the previously-leaked second slice of Mastery Challenge activities. Today’s patch 1.5.1 also sets the stage for the return of the Ostara Festival, which offers fresh gear to acquire as well as the spring-flavoured cosmetics originally available when the event first ran back in 2021. Dozens and dozens of bugfixes have also been included - the full patch notes lie below....
