Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has just released a new “Golden Dragon’’ skin variant for the popular AK-47 and this is how to get it.
With only a few days before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare kicks off season 2, developer Infinity Ward is sure to be adding tons of new skins and operators for us to grind for, but there is still lots of content rolling out before the new season starts.
If you’re not a fan of grinding the challenges to acquire a new skin for your weapon then you’re in luck, because the newest weapon skin release can only be unlocked through the store. For those willing to spend the 800CP (Modern Warfare’s in-game currency) you can simply select the “Dead Man’s Fortune” bundle from the store and unlock the following items:
- Golden Dragon Blueprint Misfortune Cookie Charm Wading Marauder Emblem
At this time, and there are no future plans to change this, purchasing the bundle from the store is the only way to acquire the new skin. If you’ve purchased the season 1 Battle Pass you can, technically, unlock enough CP to pay for this skin outright, but that could take much longer than unlocking the standard gold camos that you can achieve through challenges.
Modern Warfare is one of the best Call of Duty games we’ve gotten in recent memory, but players are getting worried when purchased content is outweighing core content and is, arguably, cooler than the content they have to grind for. Using the AK-47 as an example, “The Warrior’s Code” is one of the longer, more strenuous challenges in the game. Requiring players to get specific kills, win five gunfights (which is much easier now that you can use your own loadouts) and the dreaded “Win five Search and Destroy Missions.” This challenge can take a while if you’re not playing with friends or loading into a good group.
Still, Call of Duty isn’t going anywhere, and neither are microtransactions. Both are insanely profitable, to the point that it makes little sense for publishers to change their approach to either. Expect to keep coughing up currency for cool skins like the Golden Dragon.
