The remastered title, originally released in 2009, is believed to include a remastered version of the game’s story-based campaign only, with multiplayer rumored to be excluded from the remastering process completely.
Activision has declined all requests for comment regarding the hype surrounding the rumors and has not yet officially announced anything. Though nothing official has been confirmed, the evidence that has come out thus far certainly supports the case that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is actually happening.
While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign was one for the ages, including the “No Russian” level - arguably one of the most controversial levels in gaming history - a remaster that excludes multiplayer could potentially be a significant miss for Activision and may ultimately result in lackluster sales for a game and franchise that has thrived on its multiplayer element.
