What do you get when you combine Fortnite, Splatoon, and a lot of nutritional value? Introducing Butter Royale - the cutest battle royale mobile game you’ll ever play.
From the creative minds at Mighty Bear Games, Butter Royale takes place in an alternate future on the adorably rendered Butter Island where weapons have been banned across the globe, thus leading to massive competitive food fights. Designed as a game for “everyone in the family to enjoy”, players will use Nutritionally Operated Machines (otherwise known as “NOM’s”) to send food flying towards enemies in large-scale food fights in intensely packed five minute matches.
If that wasn’t already challenging enough, as time goes on the floors of each stage will be appropriately filled with butter, causing players to slip and slide unless they rush to specific safe zones on the map. Each match can host up to 32 live players, though AI bots can join in for a fun and food-filled game as well. Like other battle royale games, players will have the option whether to play with friends or fight solo against AI’s.
At launch, Butter Royale will feature 52 different characters spanning a wide range of ages, genders, and backgrounds giving players a myriad of choices when picking an avatar. Screenshots of the game display these adorably rendered characters, each with their own distinct personal style and unique flair.
The game was designed to be an easy entry into the battle royale genre, with intuitive and accessible controls “so players new to gaming will be able to pick it up quickly”. As a battle royale title with no in-game chats, ads, loot boxes, or IAP’s present, it’s definitely a good and safe choice for children and their parents to pick up, play, and bond over.
Simon Davis, CEO of Mighty Bear Games spoke excitedly of the new title, saying, “We designed Butter Royale to push the envelope on fun and inclusivity. We want everyone in the family to love it and see themselves represented in the game, from young children to grandparents.”
Butter Royale is available now for iOS devices through Apple Arcade.
