There are few things more frustrating than a cheater, and removing these types of players makes for a better gaming experience. Bungie has recently taken steps to do just that, cracking down on cheaters in Destiny 2.
The studio announced that it has banned Destiny 2 players using aim-bots to give themselves an advantage. Bungie wrote on Twitter, “Our security team has taken action today [October 3] and issued a wave of bans targeted at players attempting to use aiming cheat tools.” This should make engaging in PvP much more satisfying and fair. While Bungie is doing what it can to clean up the game, players are still encouraged to report those who may be in violation of the rules.
The ban waves come at an important time for Destiny 2, as the game’s latest expasion, Shadowkeep, released earlier this week, along with a free-to-play version of the game called New Light. The expansion’s launch wasn’t entirely smooth, with servers going down for a spell. But things have been ironed out and the game has been successfully updated, bringing along a series of significant changes, such as an overhaul the power level system. This will alter the way players progress through the game, but will make it more accessible to new players, which is Bungie’s intent.
The latest update includes plenty of new content, like new missions and items, as well as adjustments to abilities and the usual bug fixes. It’s worth it to players to peruse the 2.6.0.1 patch notes to get a clearer picture of all that’s new.
Another attempt to make the game more accessible is New Light, a free-to-play version of Destiny 2 meant to help grow the playerbase by letting newcomers sample what it has to offer at no cost. It comes packed with more than what many would think. New Light offers access to all Year 1 content and a good portion of Year 2 as well. Additionally, it includes a remixed version of the opening mission from the first game. There is plenty there for new players to get the gist of Destiny 2; enough to make an informed decision on whether or not it is for them.
