Young Horses has announced a release date for free Bugsnax expansion The Isle of Bigsnax with some bonus news.
Not only will the expansion land very soon on April 28, but the entire game will also arrive on Xbox and Nintendo Switch for the first time. First announced back in October of 2021, the expansion will include an entire new island set in a new jungle biome. The island is home to some grossly-oversized Bugsnax, and it’s up to you to find out why and capture them, while you’re at it.
Naturally, you can expect plenty of new Bugsnax to encounter, such as the Clawbsteroni with a massive trampoline on its back. There’s also updates back on the original island as you finally get your own hut in Snaxburg. You’ll be able to decorate it how you see fit, and even upgrade it to feature multiple stories. You’ll do this by completing a new set of missions sent to your mailbox that challenge you to explore in new ways.
Finally, the update will also add Bug Hats. These are new cosmetics that will randomly appear on the heads of certain Bugsnax in the world. Catch a critter wearing the hat, and the hat is yours. It’ll then be added to your hat board back in Snaxburg that also gives you hints on where to find the next one.
You can check all this out in the trailer below. The Isle of Bigsnax will be a free update for Bugsnax on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 & on PC via the Epic Game Store on April 28. Meanwhile, the entire Bugsnax package, including the new update, will debut on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam on the same day. It’ll also be available on Day One via Xbox Game Pass.
