Jerry Bruckheimer has got Top Gun fans all excited with a tweet earlier this week in which he revealed he’d just come back from a trip to New Orleans to chat to Tom Cruise about Top Gun 2.

In Tony Scott’s 1986 film Cruise starred as young Navy pilot Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
Development of the sequel was confirmed last year by Skydance CEO David Ellison during the press junket for Terminator Genisys.
“There is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie, and there is no Top Gun without Maverick, and it is going to be Maverick playing Maverick,” Ellison said at the time.
Cruise hasn’t officially confirmed his involvement in the film, but his 1985 co-star Val Kilmer who played Iceman said on Facebook in November that he had been offered a role.
“Not often you get to say ‘yes’ without reading the script,” he said.
