Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson is said to be in talks to play Captain Marvel in an upcoming standalone film, reports Variety.
Larson is said to be Marvel’s number one choice for the role, with the actress believed to be “leaning toward playing the part”.
Marvel did not comment on the Variety report.
No director is attached as yet, though it’s assumed the character will first appear in another Marvel film before branching out alone.
The story of Captain Marvel sees air force pilot Carol Danvers imbued with super powers after an accident sees her DNA fused with that of an alien.
