Nintendo Labo may be not as easy to use as the recently-released Dreams. But one Nintendo fan has proven that there’s still life to be found in the two-year-old toolset by recreating a number of Breath of the Wild shrines.

Twitter user Midreeca has taken to posting a number of Labo creations to his account,  including full recreations of several shrines. While they lack the textures and a few of the features due to the limitations inherent in Labo, Midreeca has shown a surprising amount of ingenuity when it comes to recreating some of the more technically-challenging gameplay functions.

For instance, when recreating the Owa Dam shrine, they recreated the ability to stop the rolling balls by adding blocks that press down on them from the top.

In the case of the Oman Au Shrine, where you have to use the magnesis ability to move objects and open new paths, they just used the game’s built-in tools to move the objects around.

They haven’t been able to fully recreate everything they want, however. When trying to recreate the ability to make and destroy ice blocks, it turns out they will always disappear in the same order, regardless of which one you choose to destroy.

In fact, thoughout these tweets, there’s plenty of mentions about the ways that Labo’s tools have limited Midreeca’s ability to recreate the dungeons. Midreeca’s not able to implement the treasure chests in one level, for instance, and is unable to stop the balls from moving if they’re not on the slopes in Owa Dam.

However, considering that Labo was never built for these kinds of creations, the fact that Midreeca has managed to recreate so many different parts of Breath of the Wild’s gameplay using the limited tools is impressive.

Whether or not Midreeca’s creations will inspire a newfound interest in Labo still remains to be seen, but there’s probably a lot more that the game can do that players have not yet discovered.
