Hot on the heels of the release of their Game of the Year Edition, Gearbox Software will be releasing another title update for its role-playing shooter Borderlands. The update will be coming free of charge for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions at the same time, so nobody will be left out.

What will be coming with this particular update?

Obviously, most people will be happy about the level cap raising, adding hours of gameplay for those who like to ding the max levels in any RPG. Even better for those who have finished play-through 2 and seek a much bigger challenge than what they’re accustomed to; who doesn’t like getting better and better loot?

Level cap increase of 8 levels

  • That means that all Borderlands players will now be able to achieve a new maximum level of 58.

Owners of The Secret Armory of General Knoxx can achieve an increase to a maximum level of 69.

End game players that have completed play-through #2 will see enemies scale to the new levels up to the new level cap.

  • That means that if you’ve completed everything, you can play through the game again and again at a challenging level in order to find better and better loot.

Item drops (with the exception of COM Decks) will also scale with higher level enemies to the new level cap.

  • That means that this Title Update features the highest level weapons to date.

Other fixes, including DLC4 Achievement/Trophy glitches that have affected some users will be corrected to properly award players for obtaining these achievements no matter which order they were completed in.

Borderlands is definitely a game you can always go back to and have some fun, either by yourself or with a few friends. With this update, you’re bound to pick it back up if you haven’t already with the release of the last expansion, Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution (review here). Or maybe you just bought the Game of the Year Edition for that really nice Duke Nukem Forever demo access and are ready to tackle everything anew.

No official release date for the update has been announced yet by Gearbox, as the update is going through the Xbox Live and PSN approval processes. The update could be released as early as the first day of November.

Borderlands (and the Game of the Year Edition) is out now for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
