The next big looter shooter, Borderlands 3, is just over a month away, so gamers don’t have much longer to wait before they can set out as vault hunters and explore the galaxy. Luckily, developer Gearbox is now showing off a bit more of the game, including one of its all-new planets, Eden-6.

Eden-6 is described as a “lush backwater swamp planet”, and is also home to the Jakobs Estate, which belongs to the manufacturer of weapons found throughout the Borderlands series. Eden-6 appears to be pretty different than other locations found within the Borderlands games, which should get longtime fans excited for Borderlands 3. There’s even something kind of unsettling about the denser swamp areas, though they would prove to be a good location for some sort of Shrek easter egg.

Gearbox has been showing off quite a bit of new stuff for the upcoming game as of late. The team debuted a character trailer for the Vault Hunter Amara just yesterday, and there’s still so more on the horizon before the game actually releases. Gameplay-wise, most of the new additions are pretty interesting, and they should prove to be fairly popular among fans.

That being said, Gearbox hasn’t managed to stay out of controversy recently, with #BoycottBorderlands3 trending on Twitter yesterday. There are numerous reasons for the controversies, though most pertain to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, who has been accused of acts such as physical assault against voice actors and promoting animal abuse on his social media accounts. Borderlands 3 is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, so it’s not clear if the dissatisfaction will actually translate to lower sales, especially among those less in tune with gaming news.

Regardless, the next few weeks should be good for fans of the franchise. Borderlands 3 has gone gold, so there’s really limitless potential as far as what the studio could show off next. Whether or not the game will be able to live up to the likes of Borderlands 2 remains to be seen, though it seems pretty likely that gamers will spend hundreds of hours hunting for the best guns in the game upon its release.

Borderlands 3 is set to launch on September 13th, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
