Borderlands 3 is getting its first DLC pack, with a formal announcement next week.

We’ve known this was coming. Borderlands 3 was launched with a season pass monetization model in mind (just like Borderlands 2), which means pass holders can get three more campaign DLC. According to Gearbox, the first DLC is about to be announced during The Borderlands Show on November 20th.

To get the deets, tune in to the Borderlands Twitch channel for the announcement presentation, and then stick around for The Borderlands Show where Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford will co-host with regulars Greg Miller and Fran Mirabella to talk about what to expect in the first DLC to hit Borderlands 3.

We did get a bit of a teaser on social media, and what we see is a whole lot of Handsome Jack. This is interesting since the game’s designers talked-up how they’d like the series to evolve beyond Jack, but there might be a pretty good reason for his return.

The trailer shows what is almost certainly the Hyperion home planet. Since Jack is only recently deceased in the Borderlands universe, it’s likely that Hyperion is still caught up in the cult of personality that surrounded Jack while he was still alive. This means a big statue of Jack riding on Butt Stallion (the pony made out of diamonds), as well as enormous holograms of Jack literally keeping an eye on the citizenry.

But what could possibly convince the current crop of vault hunters to visit the Hyperion homeworld? Probably a vault, but you never know. It could just be a whole bunch of guns, which come to think of it, is almost the same thing.

We’ll find out more on November 20th. In the meantime, the Bloody Harvest event is still ongoing and will continue until December 5th, so get your kills on Captain Haunt while you can. After that, Borderlands 3 will get a new event called Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite. More details on that will also show up next week, so stay tuned.
