Borderlands 3 studio Gearbox Software is making it easier for fans of the series to redeem Shift codes for special gear in the latest FPS-RPG title. A post shared on the official Borderlands Twitter account revealed that fans can now redeem codes directly to their account on the official website for the game.
The Shift code system debuted with 2012’s Borderlands 2 and allowed fans to grab golden keys for a loot chest that awarded purple-level gear with high stats, as well as special seasonal gear from Gearbox’s social media channels. The system returned for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and this year’s Borderlands 3, but still required players to either boot one of the supported games up or use the dedicated Shift website to redeem codes for loot.
Since the Shift website has only received minimal updates since Borderlands 3’s release, adding full Shift functionality to the Borderlands website modernizes the process by allowing fans to redeem regular Shift codes as well as the additional variants added for members of the Borderlands VIP program like Vault Codes, email codes and diamond codes. The long-standing tradition of putting codes in for some of the best gear the games have to offer will remain intact, but with fewer headaches.
In addition to the Shift codes for Borderlands 3 shared here on Game Rant, fans can typically find codes for the system through the official social channels for Borderlands, Gearbox and studio CEO Randy Pitchford. Never to leave classic games behind, the studio periodically shares codes for Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel as well.
The newest update for Borderlands 3 includes a fresh new endgame activity for experienced Vault Hunters to crack open called the Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite. Free for all existing owners of the game, the DLC pits players against the forces of weapons manufacturer Maliwan as they prepare to unleash a new menace. With a unique set of rules and waves of difficult enemies to defeat, players are encouraged to bring in a full four-person squad for the event, as well as their best gear. Redeeming some Shift codes on the Borderlands website couldn’t hurt for those seeking to take on the challenge.
Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version in development.
