The details about the new DLC for Borderlands 3 are finally rolling in and one of the most exciting has to be Mad Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot. Randy Pitchford joined the official Borderlands Show this morning, streaming on both Twitch and YouTube to talk more details about the recently released DLC Trailer.
In Borderlands 2 the longest missions and side quests capped out at a total length of five hours, which was an incredible length as it was. Pitchford is now saying that the Handsome Jackpot DLC will take about seven hours to complete. The team has been doing test runs with gamers and they’re averaging a total of seven to eight hours. “We know that there will be streamers out there who can speed run this,” Pitchford says, but the average completion time will be around seven hours.
Pitchford went on to explain that many may not know that Mad Moxxie and Handsome Jack used to be married. Handsome Jack stole the plans in order to create his casino and this DLC is going to be like an Ocean’s 11 style heist. Scorned love is what fuels this mission to take everything from Handsom Jack and let Mad Moxxi get her revenge to “cross him off my list forever.”
There will be new build-outs, new weapons, and yes even new grenades to be plundered even more epic than the ones in Bloddy Harvest. The amount of loot from this mission will be endless, and Pitchford encourages fans to “look in the trash.” The casino will be styled like the Bellagio in Las Vegas with some hidden secrets that Pitchford didn’t want to reveal and wants players to really explore the surrounding areas. As can be seen in the trailer below, tons of money can be found in the slot machines, but don’t neglect those washing machines. Instead of buying weapons, Pitchford encourages players to really search for the best weapons as it is “Best when you earn it,” Pitchford says.
The seven-hour DLC is live now, and Pitchford says that players can hop in at any point while playing the game. If players are just starting Borderlands 3, or if they’ve completed all the missions thus far. Meanwhile, the Bloody Harvest event is winding down and will be wrapping up sometime in early December.
Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
