Borderlands 3 is only a couple weeks away, and fans are excited to dive back into the world of Pandora (and beyond) to reunite with returning characters and meet new faces. One of the many returning characters is Lilith, one of the few Sirens in the Borderlands universe, who now serves as leader of the Crimson Raiders. Lilith is a staple of the Borderlands franchise and has appeared in every main game so far. One Borderlands fan decided to create a mash-up image comparing each of Lilith’s design to see how her look has changed throughout the series.
Lilith first appeared in 2009’s Borderlands, where she was one of the game’s four playable characters. In Borderlands 2, she was a main character in the overall plot against Handsome Jack. She did also make a smaller appearance in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and she played a key part in making Jack significantly less Handsome. Now in Borderlands 3, Lilith has fully embraced her role as the leader of the Crimson Raiders and is searching the galaxy for Vaults to make sure that they do not fall into the wrong hands.
Thanks to the iconic style of the series, Lilith’s design hasn’t changed too much from its original look, though some tweaks have been made. Indeed, Borderlands is known for its art style, and it’s great that Borderlands 3 is sticking to that design as well. It’s clear that there have been some graphical improvements to Lilith’s model and the lighting, but the game’s reasonable PC requirements suggest that the upgrade is not extremely dramatic.
Some fans thought that the new design for Lilith looked strange when it debuted in the Borderlands 3 reveal trailer at PAX East. However, since then, a ton of gameplay has come out from the beginning of the game, and it seems Lilith looks a lot better in-game than she did in the original trailer. Thankfully, fans don’t have much longer to wait before they can see Lilith for themselves and join the fight against the Children of the Vault alongside her.
Borderlands 3 comes out on September 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A Google Stadia version is also in development.
