The latest hotfix to hit Borderlands 3 will adjust the Maliwan Takedown’s difficulty.

It’s the new year, and that means Gearbox is back in the office making tiny adjustments to Borderlands 3. The latest hotfix addresses a few bugs that appeared before the holiday break while also providing a promised reprieve from the non-scaling difficulty of the latest event, Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite.

First, let’s take a look at these bugs. The first addresses FL4K’s Furious Attack, which sometimes didn’t give their pet bonuses as expected. FL4K’s Rakkcelerate was also given some love as it wasn’t always applying the cooldown modifier as stated in the skill’s description.

The Cheap Tips submachine gun was updated so that the shield capacity was displayed correctly on the item card, while the Arbalest of Discipline was fixed so that it didn’t just spawn with shields and no health. Also, the Anointed Enforcer has had its health lowered due to a bug that sometimes makes it nearly impossible to kill after using its immunity abilities.

Finally, the hotfix addresses some of the issues players have been having with the Maliwan Blacksite event. When the event first arrived, Gearbox made it very clear that this was intended for high-level players only and trying to raid the Blacksite with anything less than a level 50 character will full Legendary gear would be extremely difficult. It was also intended to be run by a full party of four Vault Hunters,as the event didn’t scale based on the number of players.

Players complained, saying it was difficult to gather a full party to do the Takedown, so Gearbox announced a scaled version of the event before the Christmas break. They didn’t quite get to implementing the scaled Takedown on December 31st as planned, but the recent hotfix adds the code so that it will start on January 16.

The scaled Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite will still be intended for max-level players with full Legendary loadouts, but it will be scaled based on the number of players involved. This means that skilled players should be able to perform the Takedown solo, or in groups of two or three. The scaled Takedown will last until January 30.

Players are already asking for the scaled Takedown to stay past January 30 on the Gearbox forums. Given how Gearbox has been pretty good about listening to their fans, we may very well see the Takedown event remain in its scaled form past its planned end date.
