Borderlands 3’s first big DLC update dropped yesterday, bringing Moxxi’s heist of the Handsome Jackpot Casino to fans everywhere. Not only did it add more content to the game, it also dropped some amazing new legendary weapons for players to farm. One of these guns that players can collect is the Ion Cannon, a legendary Rocket Launcher with some amazing stats.
The Ion Cannon
Out of the host of DLC-exclusive new legendary weapons, the Ion Cannon is one of the hardest hitting. The stats on this gun are incredible, giving players massive damage, fairly good accuracy, and the potential for a lot of splash damage as well. Here’s one:
This thing has a potential to do almost a million damage if the rolls are just right. And there’s a lot to love about this cannon. This cannon is truly the best of all the holiday Gifts of Mayhem that Gearbox Software gave everyone this Christmas. It takes about two seconds to fire because the shot is a charge shot, but it is worth the wait for all of that damage. While it doesn’t have a second firing profile, it’s unnecessary with damage like the Ion Cannon can give.
How to Get the Ion Cannon
The Ion Cannon is a boss drop in the new Handsome Jackpot DLC that released December 19th, 2019. One of the main quests that is part of the DLC is called “Jack’s Wild;” if players go through the main story line, this one will be impossible to miss. During the Jack’s Wild quest chain, players will have to fight something called the Fabricator. Here’s a quick video of fighting this machine so players have an idea of what the fight will look like:
The drop of the Ion Cannon is not guaranteed in this fight; however, players can replay this battle as often as they want in and effort to get it. This will also allow players to try to farm the Ion Cannon stats they are hoping for; it will look great with the Christmas-themed Echo skins that Gearbox gave out for its holiday event.
