Blizzard Entertainment has shot down reports overnight that the studio had pulled the plug on a Diablo 4 announcement for BlizzCon 2018.

Kotaku originally reported that the highly anticipated sequel would be showcased during Blizzard’s annual games event, which played host to the heavily criticised reveal of mobile game Diablo Immortal.

However, Blizzard has since issue a statement confirming it did not hold back on any planned announcements.

‘First off we want to mention that we definitely hear our community. We generally don’t comment on rumors or speculation, but we can say that we didn’t pull any announcements from BlizzCon this year or have plans for other announcements,’ said the company.

Despite this, Kotaku’s sources confirmed that not only is Diablo 4 in development, but it has ‘changed drastically’ in the last four years, and has apparently gone through at least two iterations during production.

As for Diablo Immortal, well, fans aren’t exactly happy about the game’s announcement, with the hashtag #NotMyDiablo trending on Twitter.

Furthermore, Bloomberg has reported that Activision-Blizzard’s shares dropped by 7.2% following the reveal of the new game. This means the mega-publisher is now ‘on track for its lowest close since January.’

While it wasn’t too exciting for Diablo fans, BlizzCon did at least give Warcraft fans a reason to be happy, as it was confirmed Blizzard is working on Warcraft III: Reforged, a remake of Warcraft III.
