The sequel to Blade Runner will open in the US on January 12, 2018 in North America, Warner Bros. has announced.
Release timing outside of the US is being handled by Sony Pictures, who is yet to confirm a date.
The sequel will star Ryan Gosling under the direction of Prisoners helmer Denis Villeneuve. Harrison Ford also reprises his role as Rick Deckard. The film picks up several decades after Ridley Scott’s original, which saw ex-police officer Deckard hunting escaped replicants in 2019 Los Angeles.
Principle photography is set to begin in July.
