Treyarch has improved the Host Migration feature of Call of Duty: Black Ops’ multiplayer over previous games in the series, online director Dan Bunting has told VideoGamer.com.

Host Migrations have “been improved over the previous games, and we hope to make [them] better,” said Bunting in an interview with VideoGamer.com. “It’s something that’s always being improved – and we’re going to improve it post-launch as well.”

While he wouldn’t go into technical specifics, Bunting confirmed the need to improve the feature for Black Ops. “Host Migration is very important for our game, because of Wager Match for example. We don’t want to have people quitting out and then ruining the experience for every other player that was in that match.”

Bunting also admitted a seamless matchmaking service would never be an option in the real world. “You’re always going to end up in those edge cases where sometimes it fails, you know, but it is getting better for every game that we do,” he said.

Host Migration is designed to transfer a multiplayer game to the next best available host when the original host leaves the game. Infinity Ward introduced the feature in last year’s Modern Warfare 2, although it led to an abundance of collapsed games and ejections to lobby.

Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released in the UK on November 9.
