PlayStation enjoyed its best-ever Black Friday last month, SCE president and CEO Andrew House has told the Financial Times.
“We’ve just seen the most successful Black Friday in the company’s history,” he revealed at last weekend’s PlayStation Experience. “We are now trying to benchmark against the success of the PlayStation 2 – or exceed it if possible.”
Actual sales figures for Sony’s systems haven’t been revealed, but it’s safe to assume the PS4’s popularity is at the heart of the record figures.
House was also weary of talking up PS4’s chances of eventually eclipsing lifetime PS2 sales of 155 million, noting that consumers now “expect innovation” to come around more quickly.
Microsoft too claimed Black Friday success, announcing “record Xbox One sales” for the holiday shopping period in the US, but too hasn’t revealed actual sales figures. We may get a clearer picture when NPD releases its US sales report later this month.
