If you have been able to tear yourself away from Mass Effect 2 long enough, you’ll be very happy to know that BioWare is not even close to putting out their best work.
In an interview with Computer and Videogames, BioWare co-CEO, Dr. Ray Muzyka, said the developer’s best work is “still ahead” of them.
I don’t think BioWare has any problems releasing top notch games in terms of story, delivery or content. With the recent releases of Mass Effect 2 as well as Dragon Age: Origins, BioWare has proven to be versatile and willing to adapt to gamer feedback.
“The way we approach it is that each game has to be better than the last one. That’s always been true for the last 20 years we’ve been doing this, that’s just what we do. It’s kind of in our culture now.
I think the team finds it reassuring that you’ve done something good, you’ve got great sales, great critical success, but they’re driven by making the next thing even better. That’s what drives me.
If it wasn’t difficult it wouldn’t be worth while. Our best work is still ahead of us. That’s why I’m doing it, because I think our best work is still ahead of us and that’s why our teams are doing it I think.”
It’s great to see the company attempting to refine its strengths with each release. Though, it must definitely put a lot of pressure on the team with each subsequent release.
Personally, I’d love to see a sequel to Jade Empire, which anyone unfamiliar with the title should check out on the XBL: Xbox Classics channel.
What direction would you like to see BioWare go with their upcoming titles? How do you feel about their attempt at adapting to gamer feedback?
