Pokémon Company International is back at it again with a new special set for the Pokémon TCG. Unavailable in regular booster packs and boxes, you’ll have to pick these cards up through either Elite Trainer Boxes or Premium Collection Packs. Even though this set lacks the usual subsets and full-art chase cards, it’s still a valuable set, and these are the best cards to pull from Pokémon TCG: Pokémon Go for your collection.
Best Cards to Pull from Pokémon TCG: Pokemon GO
10. Radiant Blastoise
Bringing back nostalgia vibes, Radiant Blastoise capitalizes on the popularity of the Kanto starters that many collectors want in their collections. Initially, upon release, this card saw higher prices and higher demand, but with things having settled down, it’s not too difficult to pull, so the price of the single card has gone down. However, that doesn’t stop collectors from being overjoyed whenever they open up a copy of this card.
9. Blanche (Rainbow Rare Version)
In this special set, the supporter cards were only released with rare rainbow versions since their full-art rare versions were released as pre-release promos this time around, but that doesn’t stop them from being any less popular like Blanche. She’s the leader of Team Mystic and a key supporter of the set, but also is a must-have for players who enjoy using their water Pokémon for battle. Her ability to draw 2 cards is always very useful, and she also has a randomized coin-flip effect that lets you fetch water energy from your discard pile and reuse it by attaching it to a benched Pokémon- that’s huge!
8. Professor’s Research (Rainbow Rare Version)
The Professor’s Research Supporter card is another example of a valuable card due to its powerful effect in-game, which lets you discard your entire hand and draw back up to 7 cards. This card’s beneficial effect is twofold; if you’re stuck with a bad set of cards, you can easily ditch and replace them, but if you’re holding on to only a few cards (or none), then this basically lets you draw a bunch of cards for free.
7. Candela (Rainbow Rare Version)
Similar to Blanche, Candela is a key Supporter card from the set that’s necessary for players who want to use their fire Pokémon when building their decks. She’ll also net you 2 extra cards and with a successful coin flip, you’ll get to attach a fire energy to one of your Pokémon from your discard pile. The artwork is also fantastic, with a sleek-looking techwear-styled trenchcoat and phoenix logo seen from the back-view of Candela, who’s the leader of the red team.
6. Radiant Charizard
Continuing with the charm of retro-inspired art, Radiant Charizard is a fan favorite due to the legacy popularity and recognition of Charizard for the Pokémon franchise. It’s a great-looking card and has some exciting potential in the actual card game. The closer you are to losing the game, the generic energy cost of his Combustion Blast attack gets reduced for each prize card you’ve lost, thanks to his Excited Heart ability.
5. Melmetal VMAX (Rainbow Rare)
Melmetal VMAX may not be one of the most popular or well-known Pokémon, but in the TCG, he packs a powerful punch. You can increase his G-Max Juggernaut attack by attaching more energy, up to a maximum of +120, and he’s also showing plenty of potential for players who are building decks around him. With his power, there are deck builds that put him to use by performing one-hit knockouts, and it’s just as fun to play as it is competitive.
4. Dragonite VSTAR (Rainbow Rare)
Dragonite VSTAR is a classic adorable, and cute Pokémon that is popular with collectors due to its looks and is also a great choice for players looking to make a budget-friendly and powerful deck. A draconic reptilian-type of Pokémon, Dragonite looks similar to Charizard but is not fire-based and has no elemental strengths or weaknesses in the TCG. The Draconic Star VSTAR Power is perfect for filtering out and getting energy from your deck, making your gameplay more efficient.
3. Mewtwo VSTAR (Gold Rare)
This Mewtwo is the second-rarest pull from the Pokémon GO set and if you pull this, make sure to let everyone know because it has a pristine and valuable look built right into the card, and it has a high price tag. The gold foil finish adds an element of regal luxury and makes for a truly stand-out card to display in a graded case or in a collector’s binder.
2. Mewtwo V (Alt-Art)
Mewtwo is infamous for his major role in the lore of Pokémon thanks to his breakout role in the Red and Blue game, as well as the first Pokémon movie. A legendary genetic Pokémon, Mewtwo is a prize for collectors due to its legacy and notoriety. This is an incredibly rare, if not the rarest, pull from the entire Go set. If you get this, give yourself a pat on the back and a high five, then go out and celebrate.
1. Mewtwo VSTAR (Rainbow Rare)
Although it’s not the rarest card of the set, the Rainbow Rare of Mewtwo is the number one card to pull from the set because it’s arguably the most sought-after by collectors. We already mentioned why Mewtwo is an important Pokémon, and the only reason this is slightly ahead of the gold version is that collectors are attracted to the colorful rainbow foiling. Not only does it make for an awesome showpiece, but it’s also the version that players want to be putting into their decks based on Mewtwo. Look out for this, and any of the other Mewtwo cards.
These are the best Cards to Pull from Pokémon TCG: Pokemon GO special expansion set, and it’s definitely worth picking up if you’re a fan of the franchise. If you are, you probably already got yourself some, but make sure to get more before the set is out of print. Good luck; we’ll be rooting for your pulls!
