Best Buy is prepping a promotion for Nintendo’s upcoming launch of Pokémon Sword and Shield on the Switch with a special event for the last entry in the series. Anyone that still hasn’t captured Mewtwo in Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee will have a chance to skip the grind and get him with no hassle from an in-store kiosk soon. All it requires you to do is download a special app and visit your local Best Buy early next month.
From November 4 until November 14, players with the special Pokémon Pass app (on iOS and Android) will receive a special code they can redeem in Let’s Go to nab the legendary Psychic-type. He’ll come in at level 70 with the moves Amnesia, Psychic, Teleport, and Recover. That’s pretty much exactly the same as the one you can capture at the end of Let’s Go, just without the trouble of finishing all of the gyms and Elite Four.
The steps for getting him are as follows:
-Launch your Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! game.
-Select Communicate on the main menu.
-Select Mystery Gifts.
-Select Get with code/password, then select Yes to save your game and connect to the internet.
-Enter your code.
-Watch as the gift arrives in your game. (Pokémon will appear in your party or your Pokémon Box. Items will appear in your Bag.)
While it’s always fun how Nintendo and The Pokémon Company do these promos, giving Mewtwo away is kind of redundant. Apart from some people struggling to reach the end of Let’s Go, it’s not particularly hard to nab the mysterious monster. A “Master Ball” is guaranteed to work 100% of the time, thus completely negating the struggle of weakening him for capture.
What might have been a more enticing prospect is getting Mew from Best Buy. Currently, the only way to obtain Mew in Let’s Go is by purchasing the Poké Ball Plus controller. You can’t even transfer Mew from Pokémon GO into your inventory, which may have helped some players.
At any rate, this offer at least frees up your Master Ball for other, particularly tough Pokémon. With Mewtwo all but guaranteed now, why not capture Moltres, Articuno, or Zapados with it?
