DICE has revealed a slew of new Battlefield V details ahead of its anticipated showing at EA Play this Saturday.

First up, the ambitious World War II shooter will feature two playable factions at launch: British and German forces will be selectable from the get-go, with American troops not available during the early stages of the war.

This is historically accurate, as the US didn’t join the conflict until the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941.

DICE once again stressed that your company of soldiers will evolve overtime, with four staple classes — Medic, Scout, Support, and Assault — available to customise to fit your own playstyle. The studio also stressed that there will be no unfair advantage; Battlefield’s core rock-paper-scissors gameplay will remain very much in the spotlight.

Tides of War, which is Battlefield V’s post-release showcase, will supplement the experience with ‘a new narrative every few months.’ This story content will focus on ‘a particular aspect of the era,’ kicking off with the Fall of Europe.

New factions will also be released as extra chapters become available, though DICE isn’t talking about specifics just yet.

Battlefield V is pencilled for release on October 19 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. In the meantime, have a read of some of the things you can expect to do in the game.

One of the new modes recently detailed is Airborne, which kicks off with you parachuting into the action from the skies above.
