From August 12 to 15, Battlefield 2042 will be playable for a few lucky players as the shooter is put through its paces in a technical playtest. The test will include a few thousand PC and console participants as it aims to also heavily test cross-play. The test will consist of five, three-hour play sessions. And then a final nine-hour long session to wrap things up. Unlike the Halo Infinite technical test from last weekend, participants of the Battlefield 2042 playtest will sign an NDA. So, there will be no footage for you to check out from the event. You’ll need to wait until the open beta for that, which should take place in September.
How to sign up for the Battlefield 2042 technical playtest
The only way to get into the test is with an invite from EA. To get that, you need to register for EA Playtesting. If you haven’t created an EA account, you will need to do that first. Just remember, only a few thousand players will get to participate. So, your chances are low. However, if your PC meets the requirements for Battlefield 2042, you should take a shot. You never know your luck.

In the announcement for the technical playtest, EA did warn players that it will not be a full experience. Basically, don’t come in thinking it will be like a beta test. It will have limited features focused on technical performance.
