Gearbox’s first-person hero shooter Battleborn will be at E3 “in a big way”, 2K’s parent company Take Two Interactive has said, with more info on the game planned to be revealed before the show.
Described by Take Two as a “groundbreaking new intellectual property from Gearbox Software”, the game has been likened to a first-person MOBA, with characters able to gain new abilities and level up completely within each match.
The game is still scheduled for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC before March 31, 2016, although it remains unknown whether it will release during calendar year 2015 or in the first quarter of 2016.
“Currently in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC by Borderlands creators Gearbox Software, Battleborn is a first-person shooter with a deep roster of unique playable heroes,” Take Two said during its earnings call earlier this evening. “Through the game’s accelerated character growth system, every hero can be fully experienced in a single story mission or multiplayer match.
“Next month Battleborn will be at E3 in a big way and we will have more news to share about the title prior to the show.”
2K is also due to reveal a major new AAA title soon, with the game likely to be on show alongside Battleborn at next month’s E3.
