Battleborn – remember that? – will receive its first DLC Story Operation on October 13, Gearbox has announced.
The DLC – called ‘Attikus and the Thrall Rebellion’ – will see players “relive the days of Attikus leading the Thrall rebellion in the Jennerit slums”. The pack is expected to cost £3.99 and is included as part of the game’s £15.99 Season Pass.
Following that, a second Story Operation – ‘Toby’s Friendship Raid’ – will release later in the autumn, with three further packs to launch later this winter. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll all release this year, of course: winter stretches on to March 2017.
Each operation is described by Gearbox as a side story that expands on the lore of a particular Battleborn hero, although they’re designed to be shorter than main story missions and “highly replayable”.
On top of those, a range of free DLC is also due to roll out soon, including three new heroes (the latest, Ernest, lands today), a new ‘Face Off’ competitive multiplayer mode on October 13, and an additional PVP mode in the autumn.
Face off sees two teams of players fighting against each other “to exterminate the invading Varelsi. Each team must coordinate between defense and offense to kill Varelsi, collect their masks and deposit them for points. The first team to 500 points wins. Of course killing Varelsi makes them mad – Be ready for intense, multi-phase battles! Steal masks from enemy players and be quick to pick up masks your teammates left behind.”
Battleborn launched back in May, but isn’t believed to have done particularly well. Last month, Take-Two said that the game had performed “below our expectations”.
