Update: Battle Chasers is a role-playing game which shares the same sense of adventure of the Darksiders games, Airship has told Polygon. The game is being targeted for release on PC and consoles, with a tablet version also a possibility.
In the game players will control characters including Garrison, Gully and Calibretto.
A new Battle Chasers comic from Joe Madureira is also incoming, likely to be offered in three-issue arcs, the first of which plans to finish the story started back in the 2001 comic. Fans can also expect an updated visual style.
Original report: Airship Syndicate, an indie studio formed by Darksiders creator Joe Madureira and other former Vigil members, has released a new teaser image which suggests the team is working on a new game based on Madureira’s abandoned Battle Chasers comic.
The image features a scene with a giant sword and a muscular figure who fans believe to be Battle Chasers’ Garrison.
The Battle Chaser comic series was stopped in 2001 after only nine issues, at which point Madureira switched his attentions to a career in video games.
An email sent to Airship Syndicate followers featured the above image and the message: “The time has come! A storm has arrived… prepare for Battle … see the warrior who has returned for his legendary blade.”
A reveal is expected later today.
