Baby Sonic, who will make his big-screen debut later this week, is now a playable character in Sonic Forces and Sonic Dash.
There are certain ways in which major media franchises can almost guarantee they’ll make more money from a project than they already will. It used to be done by introducing a small, furry character that can easily be turned into child-friendly merchandise. Over the last couple of years, though, the trend has turned to establishing baby versions of pre-existing well-loved characters.
Marvel started the trend by rebirthing Groot as Baby Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2. Star Wars then upped the baby game by revealing The Child to the world, otherwise known as Baby Yoda. Later this week, we will be introduced to Baby Sonic via the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and the hate the baby blue blur has been receiving is beyond the pale.
If you love Baby Sonic as we do, then this will come as good news. Players can get the mini version of SEGA’s biggest money-spinner as a playable character in Sonic Dash and the mobile version of Sonic Forces. The tweet sent out via Sonic the Hedgehog’s official Twitter account details that Baby Sonic is only available for a limited time. However, when that time will come to an end has not been revealed.
Teen Sonic has already been introduced to the mobile version of Sonic Forces, and he will now be joined by his baby-self. As you might imagine, Baby Sonic is incredibly quick and agile. However, he is not nearly as big and powerful as the teen version of the blue hedgehog. Baby Sonic’s biggest plus is his ability to EMP Boost. He is currently the only character with that ability in the game.
As stated above, if you play Dash or Forces on mobile, or you simply want a sneak peek at Baby Sonic before everyone else, log in now. Baby Sonic will only be around for a limited time and although that time will likely overlap with the release of the movie, there’s no guarantee he will be sticking around. Use him now before it’s too late, and as preparation for the movie which hits theaters this Friday, February 14, 2020.
