There’s a little movie called Avengers: Endgame coming out later this week. You might have heard of it…
Ahead of its arrival in cinemas on Thursday, the 22nd entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had its premiere in Los Angeles last night, with MCU stars old and new hitting the “purple” carpet – and, well, let’s just say the first reactions are more than promising.
The culmination of Marvel’s sprawling, 11-year-old “Infinity Saga,” Endgame follows up on the cliffhanger ending of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War – a blockbuster notable for the fact that the baddie actually won, with purple baldie Thanos (Josh Brolin) snapping his fingers and wiping out half of all living creatures in the universe (including a host of our heroes).
Endgame will see the remaining Avengers – led by original sextet Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye/Ronin (Jeremy Renner) – trying to reverse the Snap and defeat Thanos for good.
Proper reviews are embargoed (look out for our own review on the site soon), but premiere attendees quickly took to social media to offer their initial thoughts. “Emotional,” “epic,” the “brains” to Infinity War‘s “brawn”… If these reports are typical of people’s responses, it sounds like directors the Russo brothers have pulled off something very special.
Here’s what people had to say…
Avengers: Endgame finally hits theaters this Thursday.
